The saying that it’s 5 o’clock somewhere rings truer than ever today, as it’s National Tequila Day!
Whether you’re opting for shots or a classic margarita, there’s a chance to be intentional in supporting Black (and women) led brands as you make a toast to the holiday. From partnerships to full ownership, the wine and spirits industry is being dominated by the ladies, and when it comes to that good ol’ agave, they’ve got you covered.
There’s even something if you choose to go the alcohol-free route, as we don’t discriminate over here.
Check out these MadameNoire-approved tequila brands to add to your bar in honor of National Tequila Day (July 24).

1. Anteel Tequila

As the first Black woman to co-own and lead a tequila company, Nayana Ferguson, alongside her husband Don, launched Anteel Tequila with a mission rooted in resilience.
Moreover, Nayana, a two-time cancer survivor, wanted to create a brand that she could enjoy both responsibly and proudly. Recently, the company rebranded with an all-new logo and packaging design to embody the brand’s dynamic and forward-thinking ethos.
“We are excited to unveil the new look and feel of Anteel Tequila, which reflects our journey of innovation and excellence,” said Nayana in an official statement. “This rebrand is not just a visual change, but a celebration of our achievements and our commitment to delivering exceptional tequila to our community.”
2. TCapri Tequila
Trailblazer Tiffany Capri Hainesworth smashed a glass ceiling with this spirits brand, becoming the first Black woman to solely own a tequila brand.
Produced in Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico, this small-batch, hand-crafted tequila is rooted in authenticity and made with 100 percent Blue Weber agave, natural yeast, and volcanic-filtered well water. And the cherry (or in this case lime) on top is that it has zero additives.
3. EGO Tequila
At age 23, Rikki Kelly became the first Black woman to own a tequila brand in the state of Texas.
Known for its ultra-smooth taste and refined branding, Ego Tequila is offered in both the Blanco and Reposado expressions.
4. Chicas Divertidas

Dubbed the queen of the hotties and known to dominate the summer season, Megan Thee Stallion has extended her portfolio outside of just music with her very own tequila brand.
She’s coined the phrase, Hot Girl Summer, and created a “tequila that was smooth AF, designed to be shared and savoured with your hotties.” The beverage comes in a Megan Thee Stallion one-of-a-kind, coded bottle inspired by the Angel’s Trumpet, a fragrant flower that’s secretly a deadly force of nature.
Honorable Mention: Altos Tequila

They’re not Black-owned, but this tequila brand did tap Real Housewives of Atlanta OG Porsha Williams to launch the “Peach, Please” Margarita Kit.
Their latest collaboration offers a peachy, spicy, and glamorous vibe, just like the energy Williams brings to anything she’s a part of. The kit features Altos Blanco, peach preserves, Tajín rim spice, and everything you need for a Southern-inspired cocktail.
