iOne Digital’s Allison McGevna Receives AAWIC Film Festival Pioneer Award For Championing Black Storytelling
It’s time to take a brief pause from our regular content and highlight one of our very own. iOne Digital’s Senior Vice President of Content, Allison McGevna, is receiving a well-deserved honor.
On Thursday, May 15, McGevna will be honored by the African American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) as the recipient of the AAWIC Film Festival Pioneer Award for its 25th edition. Her efforts leading a team of brilliant storytellers in the creation of content for a multicultural and multigenerational audience have resulted in the honor as she oversees the iOne Digital team.
Held in New York City through May 17, the AAWIC Film Festival celebrates the empowerment and creativity of women in film and is recognized as one of the most esteemed female film events in the nation. Since its inception in 1998, the festival has spotlighted the achievements of women filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, becoming a crucial platform for showcasing their work.
A proven leader with more than 15 years of experience, McGevna has a reputation for cultivating stellar talent and collaborating with some of the industry’s most prolific creatives.
As the current SVP of Content at iOne Digital, she has helped recruit and build a team that has helped steer the company to its most profitable years in history.

She increased audience and engagement and created award-winning programming, notably MadameNoire’s hit talk show, Listen to Black Women. She leads a team of writers, editors and producers who create daily content for multicultural and multigenerational audiences.
In addition to McGevna, other 2025 honorees include: Skye Marshall, who will receive the 25th AAWICFF Trailblazer Award, Cheryl Hill, who will also receive the 25th AAWICFF Pioneer Award, and Felicia Henderson, an additional honoree of the 25th AAWICFF Trailblazer Award.
