We’re just two days away from America’s most dramatic holiday: Halloween. October 31 is the one day of the year you can confidently walk in the streets dressed in clothes and makeup you wouldn’t dare wear any other time. Or you can pay homage to one of your favorite icons — real or fictional — by recreating one of their famous looks. Whether you go spooky or stylish, Halloween is all about creativity. And, as we all know, Black people ooze creativity from their pores.
In looking back on Halloweens of yesteryear, one thing that’s clear is Black women bring the imagination like no one else (except Heidi Klum, of course) on this holiday. So in case you need us to jog your memory a bit, or you need inspiration for this year’s costume, check out this list of celebrities who prove Black women do Halloween best. From Beyoncé as Barbie to Danielle Brooks recreating “Baps,” the competition is extremely stiff.
