Unless you have been under a rock that was under an even bigger rock, you know that NYFW just closed. This NYFW was filled with amazing moments that displayed the finest fashions and exhibited styling that was unmatched. Traditionally, NYFW has been all about our European counterparts who boast straight size frames, but this year Wakanda was present. Not only did Black men and women flood NYFW as only we can, but we blessed it with some big drip too. Yes, the curvy Black women popped out during NYFW and slayed in a major way.
Now I know I say it often but I must say it again, no one styles and wows like Black people. We are the standard and the foundation in which most trends are built upon. Oh and, please know that the aforementioned truths are not lost on plus-size Black women because we have the slay DNA too.

During my time in the “Big Apple” for what proved to be my best NYFW to date, thanks to CurvyNoire, I witnessed Black girl magic in an abundance. From the displays of sisterhood to the fashion and beauty victories, and every dope vibe personified in between, all I could say most times was “Girl!” I think author Abigail Padgett said it best when she declared “The way black women say “girl” can be magical…” and honestly in most instances that was the only way I could verbally show appreciation and return the magic I witnessed.
While our event CurvyNoire was packed with curvy black women who popped style in a major way this NYFW, there were other events like TheCURVYcon, Essence Fashion House, and 11 Honore’ x Good American where Black curvy fashionistas did the most in a major way. Don’t believe, keep strolling to drown in this big drip! Forget counting the ways, count the slays sis!
