(Washington Business Journal) — The polls are open for voters in Virginia, Maryland, and the District, giving them the final say in a contentious off-year election.  Many pundits are predicting that an electorate fed up with corporate bailouts and higher spending will end Democratic control of the House of Representatives, and turn out incumbents associated with Obama administration policies of expanded government. In Virginia, the 11th Congressional District race is seen as a bellwether for the hopes of Tea Party-backed candidates nationwide. Democrat Gerry Connelly is seeking a second straight defeat of Republican Keith Fimian. Fimian has assumed a pro-business, Tea Party agenda in his efforts to oust Connelly who won the seat two years ago when Democrats swept to power behind Obama’s presidential victory.
