SCARY MOVIE PREMIERE

Regina Hall has certainly come a long way from playing Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie. At the time of the premiere for that comedy classic (see the photo above), she was about 30 years old. But she’s since been in a whole host of great films, including 2017’s box-office smash Girls Trip, and the drama currently garnering her some Oscar buzz: Support the Girls. With every role, no matter how big or small, she dedicates a lot of time and energy.

“I feel like the paper gives you all the information but the actor gives it life,” Hall said to Fast Company recently. That means all the nuances of who she is, her backstory, all the stuff that’s not on the paper–her biggest secret, her biggest regret, whatever that might be, that you craft and all your homework before you even go up to set. It’s those kinds of things that I think create texture and nuances in a character. That’s the hard part of it and the fun part. But it’s hard because you really have to think–it’s the time that it takes. But it’s like where the good stuff is.”

Today the versatile actress turns 48, and we can’t help but notice that she doesn’t look anywhere near that age. What’s the secret?

In an interview with The New Potato in 2016, she said that “a lot of water, meditation, exercise and laughter” has made the difference for her. She also said that she doesn’t mess around when it comes to skin care.

“I wash my face every morning and moisturize with Avalon Organics Moisturizer,” she said. “At night I wash and moisturize again. I also use cleansing pads and a variety of eye creams.”

And wearing a smile, despite people’s aversion to laugh lines, has certainly done the beauty some good. You rarely catch her without one.

In honor of her 48th birthday and her youthfulness, we decided to take a walk down memory lane to show you that even though her fashions have drastically changed, she’s managed to look exactly the same — if not gotten better as the years pass.
