D.C. Employees are Victims, Too, of Credit Theft
(Washington Business Journal) — More than $14,000 in charges on District government issued purchase cards have been written off as fraud since early last year, as D.C. employees fall victim to card theft.
Over two days in mid-August, according to transaction data released by the city, a purchase card issued to the Office of Unified Communications was used to charge $3,054.30 at four Maryland Giant Food stores, $641.20 at Wal-Mart stores in Westminster and Nottingham, Md., and $413.34 at a Maryland Rite-Aid.
