(WSJ) — For decades, one of Times Square’s signature billboards was a man blowing smoke rings. He’s lucky he’s gone now, because soon that would likely cost him a $50 fine.
As part of an ambitious expansion to the city’s ban on smoking in indoor workplaces and park playgrounds, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn have lined up behind a plan to prohibit smoking in parks, beaches, marinas, boardwalks and pedestrian plazas.
