(NYT) — The jurisdiction of Illinois legislators ends nearly 1,500 miles from Arizona, but that is not stopping some local politicians from using their offices to fire shots at the Western state’s new immigration law.
State Senator Martin A. Sandoval, a Democrat from Chicago’s Southwest Side, called on the White Sox to abandon Arizona as their spring training home while the law is in place. He is using Illinois’s financial contribution to U.S. Cellular Field, the Sox’s home ballpark, as leverage.
