Man Of The Moment: Meet Kevin McCall
For the last few men of the moment, we brought you regular ’round-the-way guys that you could reach out and touch yourselves. But this time we’re switching it up with a little celebrity sexaaay by way of singer, songwriter, and rapper Kevin McCall.
We’re sure you remember this chocolaty goodness from Chris Brown’s “Strip” video, and though we tried to get him to take it all off when he came to our office, we found out his personality is just as enticing as those abs of his. Who knew?
Check out our intimate chat with the LA man of many talents as he talks about digging cocky women and wanting people to pay more attention to his vocals than his physique.

Too Much Testosterone, Not Enough Sense: Chris Brown And Frank Ocean Fist Fight Over Parking Space
I’d like to go on record as being curious to know whether men are aware that there are other ways to get out aggression besides hitting people in the face? Just when we thought Chris Brow had mellowed out enough to stop having tantrums as much as women have periods, news comes in that Breezy and his “crew” got into a fight with Frank Ocean and his people last night — and it was all over a parking space. The interesting news, though, may be that Frank and his people actually started the altercation, not Chris Brown, who at this point, this behavior is almost expected from.
According to early details from TMZ, the fight broke out at Westlake Studio in L.A. where Chris Brown was listening to one of the artists he represents. Supposedly, as he went to leave, Frank Ocean and his crew blocked him from leaving, with Frank telling Breezy, “This is my studio, this is my parking spot.”
At this point, Chris reportedly went to shake Frank’s hand and that’s when one of Frank’s boys attacked Chris. Naturally, one of Chris’s people jumped in and hit Frank’s friend and that’s when the all out brawl ensued. According to Chris’s sources, Frank tried to come at him, but Breezy pushed him away, causing them to fight. When police came though, Frank, who was the only one who stuck around to speak with the cops, told officers Chris was the one who punched him.
Authorities are reportedly looking at Frank as the “victim” since he stuck around to speak with officers, but no arrests were made and supposedly no one is interested in pressing charges. I can’t help but wonder if that will change based on these tweets Frank sent out last night:
Bless these childish men’s hearts.
Trapped In The Concert? R. Kelly Kicks Fans Out Of His Show With An Impromptu Song
I really want to know what goes on inside the head of R. Kelly — you, know minus those thoughts about peeing on little girls — because I’ve never seen another man who makes you think, “why is he so stupid” in the same breath as “but dang he’s so talented.”
Kells had something like a real life “Trapped in the Closet” moment during a show at the Nokia Theater in Downtown L.A. this weekend. When, according to TMZ, two female fans at the concert almost exchanged blows after one was accused of stealing the other’s seat, R. Kelly decided to just sing them on up out of his show, busting out with “security…mother f***ing se-cur-i-tyyyyyy yeah”
Yes, it’s as funny as it sounds.
Mr. Pied Piper then went on to narrate the whole incident in song, singing about how fans paid too much mother effing money for that foolishness and at some point security does actually come out on stage and escort the rowdy fans on their way. R. Kelly may not be the first singer to kick a rowdy fan out of his show but I’m pretty sure he’s the first one to sing them out. He’s too much!
Check out the hilarious video.
Q&A: Kenicia Cross, Co-founder of Image Consulting Firm Iconiq, Talks Fashion and Virtual Styling
Located in Miami, image consulting firm Iconiq speaks to the way founders Kenicia Cross and Angelique Michelle would like to be perceived. Both 2005 graduates of Howard University, the two officially formed their business a few years after. The firm offers services that include styling, image consulting, personal shopping and a wardrobe rework.
The virtual styling computer program, Iconiq Virtual Wardrobe, one of their most notable developments, is being transformed into an iPhone app and an interactive website. News reporter turned stylist Cross and image consultant Michelle — who’s worked with the likes of Chris Brown and Kelis— are counting on technology to distinguish and elevate Iconiq in the world of fashion.
Madame Noire: How did you meet and come up with the idea to found Iconiq?
Kenicia Cross: Both Angelique and I graduated from Howard University; she went to school for fashion merchandising, I went to school for journalism. After graduating I moved to California where I was a newscaster. I’d do on-air things and would always ask her what I should wear. I’d send her pictures on my cell phone and I would think, “I wish there was a way you could see my whole closet.” We decided that we would come up with a way to solve this problem. If we were having this issue, we were sure people all over the world could use the same services.
MN: You have a journalism background. How did you become a seasoned stylist?
KC: Growing up I was always into fashion and beauty so I kind of just have a natural talent and passion for it, whereas fashion is what Angelique got her degree in. With her being creative and my skill set — organizing and the business side of things — we make the perfect pair. An important part of running a business with a partner is making sure you complement each other. We taught each other along the way.
Trouble on the Set: Is Shaunie’s Boo Creeping With Another ‘Basketball Wives’ Cast Member?
So this story is literally getting strung together by a single, brittle thread but we figure it’s still worth a looksi. Some blogs are starting to speculate that Shaunie O’Neil’s young lover, Marlon Yates, is trading in his Miami castmate for a member of the LA cast because rumor has it, he may have something going on with Draya.
The suspicion is based on a few odd tweets that Draya sent out which are a smidge cryptic, but if you wanted to read through the lines you could pull together a heck of a story, like a lot of sites are. Draya said:
“@MarlonYatesJr lol. No I’m chillin. Impatient if anything. Never mad.”
“@MarlonYatesJr marlon I’m confused. What am I mad about?”
The thing is Marlon’s tweets to her aren’t visible, which means either Draya decided to tweet responses to him rather than DM him back or he deleted the messages he sent in the first place, and we all know deleted tweets means you were sending something you had no business tweeting in the first place. There was also another message that seemed a little shady. Draya retweeted one of Marlon’s tweets and added her own seemingly sarcastic message:
RT @MarlonYatesJr: I Love My Woman……… <<— #thingsamansays
Draya could also be shouting him out but I highly doubt she’s cool enough with the couple to be all up in Shaunie’s romantic life like that. But, like I said before, there isn’t a whole lot of meat to this story and it probably doesn’t help that Draya has a rep for being every athlete’s favorite woman. All I know is if it does come out that she’s messing with Marlon, Shaunie will probably wipe out that entire LA cast. She’s already got Laura, who supposedly crept with Shaq during their marriage, on the team, I doubt she would employ another one of her men’s mistress, unless she’s really trying to keep that pimp hand strong.
What do you think? Could there be anything to these suggestive tweets?

All the ladies have been stepping out recently and stepping up their fashion game. We always want to know what you think about their fashion choices on the red carpet and even on the street, so let’s get started!

Our girl Solange was seen on the streets of NYC in Tribeca yesterday, and she turned it up in the warm weather in a floral but funky outfit. She paired a floral skirt with a white, flowing top that had 3/4 quarter length sleeves. On her feet were salmon colored open-toe heels and in her hand was a glittering black clutch and fun bangles. Her fro was out and about to play, and the red lip looks good on our girl. I’m not as crazy about this look as I am with most of her other ensembles, but it’s definitely not a stop for me. I would just trade out those shoes…they aren’t working all that well for me. However, she looks good–steal.

Whitney and Ray J: Reunited and It Feels So Wrong
I never fully wrapped my head around Whitney Houston and Ray J’s on-again/off-again relationship so reports that they’re back together again baffle me. The two were reportedly last “on” in 2010, but this weekend they were spotted at Le Petit Four on Sunset Boulevard in LA looking nice and cozy.
Ray J was supposedly a total gentleman—shocker—opening the door for Whitney, making sure she was strapped in, all that good stuff. Of course TMZ was on the scene and captured their restaurant exit and it definitely looks like a date to us. Plus I don’t think Ray J is making any sex tapes or scouting for new women on a reality show at the time so maybe it’s love?
A few days before, Whitney was seen at dinner with ex-husband Bobby Brown, but daughter Bobbi Kristina was there too so that was probably more of a family dinner than a romantic rendezvous. Although Whitney put on a good face for the crowd as she headed to her car, once inside her demeanor looked a little suspicious, bringing up questions of whether she’s back on that stuff. Hopefully messing around with Ray J won’t spark a relapse.
What do you think about Whitney and Ray J together? Weird and wrong or does she need a young man like him in her life?

I’m still trying to pinpoint the exact moment that “Basketball Wives LA”’s Jackie Christie went from just being tacky to completely wacky—or kooky as Laura likes to call her.
I honestly thought I had missed a secret show between episodes 8 and 9, because somewhere in the midst of those two airings, she lost her mind. Between the oversensitivity when the girls’ mimick her catchphrase (along with everyone else’s), to her I-was-tricked-into-thinking-the-roasted-pig-was-stuffed-with-chicken-so-I’m-going-to-go-cry breakdown, to the paranoia about Laura and Imani having a one-on-one chat about their own beef on episode 10, I’m completely done with this woman. (If you think I’m lying, check out the full episode below.)
Truth be told, Jackie already had a bit of a rep for being crazy over her man—but you can’t tell her that. Remember how she checked Draya? Now, it’s not hard to imagine her following the team bus when Doug was on the road or banning female reporters from interviewing him with the way she is trying to run the ladies on “Basketball Wives.”
I’m wondering why we didn’t see this side of Jackie before, but in looking back at old episodes, it seems she was implementing her instigating plan for a least a few shows and now it’s just finally coming to fruition, in the middle of paradise. I just don’t understand what she expects to gain from this. I know she mistakenly thinks she’s the “boss b****h” and all, but seriously who will respect her after the season ends?
It’s unfortunate that the one woman who actually is a “happily married” basketball wife—in the history of the whole show (excluding Malaysia)—is a divisive nut. So much for being the mature role model out of the crew. I think a couple of camera crews and a few interviews have gone to this chic’s head.
Has your opinion of Jackie changed since you started watching her on “Basketball Wives,” or in the last few episodes? Are you disappointed that the matriarch of the group has turned out to be just another crazy character in the BBW series?

Lisa Leslie: Former WNBA Star is New Co-Owner of LA Sparks
After retiring from the LA Sparks in 2009, Lisa Leslie continued to be involved in women’s basketball as a fan and sports announcer. She has now rejoined the WNBA community as a co-owner of the Sparks — a first in the history of the league. By recently joining the group that owns the team, Lisa Leslie has become the first former player to invest in the WNBA in it’s 15-year history. Clutch magazine online reports:
[T]he former LA Sparks legend joined chairperson Paula Madison and investors Kathy Goodman and Carla Christofferson in the team’s ownership group.
Leslie, a University of Southern California grad, is used to being first. She was the first woman to dunk in a game, the first to reach 6,000 career points, and now she is the first WNBA player to invest in a professional basketball team.
Leslie told reporters she’s excited and proud to be a member of the Sparks’ ownership group.
“After spending over a decade playing with the Sparks and then the last two season as both a fan and team broadcaster, I couldn’t be happier to rejoin the organization formally as a business partner and team ambassador,” Leslie told NBC4 news. “I look forward to being as asset to the Sparks in the areas of marketing and community outreach.”
Seattle Times blogger Jayda Evans praises Leslie’s move, which shows her love for the game by promoting and developing the WNBA using her own funds. But Evans brings up another very interesting point underlying the fact that Leslie is the first WNBA star to invest over such a long period of time: the terribly low level of female players’ salaries.
