Before you get your panties all in a knot, this isn’t about really dissing anybody. But have you ever noticed certain faces and people everywhere, but don’t really know why they’re such a big deal all of a sudden? You can probably blame it on blogs and Instagram, but it’s something that’s been going on for years and years. Hence the rise of folks like Paris Hilton, everyone from Laguna Beach and The Hills, and other people who are famous just for being in front of a camera. Some of these people finally did something with their talents, while others are still just trying to be seen everywhere to make you care. And it seems to be working. Here are 10 celebrities who are famous but we still aren’t 100 percent sure why…

Rita Ora

So Ora is one of the “First Ladies” of Roc Nation, but is it just me, or do you rarely hear her music on the radio? Maybe she’ll have the same type of upward mobility that Rihanna’s career eventually had after “Pon de Replay,” but for right now, I don’t get it. I see pictures of her coming out of every place, yet I’ve never seen her perform at an awards show. Every time I turn around on fashion site’s, I’m being asked what I think of her style, but I’ve only seen one of her videos on MTV. She’s gorgeous, but honestly, I don’t know this baby from Adam. She needs to shake Jay-Z to put her music on somebody’s station because I don’t know anyone that can name more than maybe two of her songs. But we’ll see what the future holds for her…her vocals aren’t bad!

If you thought Karrine “Superhead” Steffans’ latest memoir How to Make Love to a Martian was the last you’d hear about her unwavering love for YMCMB rapper Lil Wayne, you are sadly mistaken. The New York Times Best-selling author recently took to her personal blog to express that not even four children, four baby mamas, disrespectful song lyrics or marriage can keep them apart. Her post, titled “It Just Is” which was accompanied by a photo she and Weezy reads:

It’s hard to explain.

Even though I wrote a whole book about it, I’ll never be able to explain it. For years, no matter what, he’s been there. Even when he was gone, he was there.

Other people come and go but he always, no matter what, stays.

He may not be all mine, he may not be the best, but he’s here even whenI’m not at my best. We say things, we do things, we hurt one another, other people hurt us but they don’t matter and our wounds heal when we’re together.

Our wounds heal when we’re together.

People always ask me why I don’t just leave him. He’ll never be with me. I’d never be with him. I’m married. He’s everywhere. He said this about me inthat song and this song.

Why am I still here?

Because no matter what we’ve done, no matter where we’ve been, no matter where we’ll end up, we are connected by one thing and one thing only.

Unconditional love.

I depend on that love when someone breaks my heart. It is to him I run. And I know he depends on me and, when he does, I am there.

Never a question, never a denial.

I don’t care where he’s been and he cares nothing of where I was the second before I fall into his arms. I don’t share in his world and he doesn’t participate in mine. We create our own where only we live, love, and know.

And when I am broken into a million pieces, it is he who makes me whole, who picks me up from the floor and reminds me he provides a greater love than that of any other man.

He never leaves me.

He never leaves me.

So, the world doesn’t have to understand as long as I understand and he knows that there are no amount of miles, no amount of arguments, lovers, or lies that could make me turn my back on him or force him to walk away from me.

It’s not easy.

It’s not perfect.

It just is.

56.

Meanwhile on the other side of town, Weezy celebrated 4/20.

Homophobia And Masculinity: The Real Problem With Russell “Hollywood” Simpson Allegedly “Outing” NFL Star Kerry Rhodes

Russell “Hollywood” Simpson speaks to Bossip about his alleged relationship with NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes:

Kerry paid for everything. We had a very good life together. I always got any and everything I ever asked for. Vacations, red bottoms, the private jet in my video was us going to training camp together. I had a driver and he even gave me his Aston Martin. He later bought me my own car and because I’m not a dumb bi**h I made sure to get it my own name and he paid the whole thing off! He treated me very well. I will never talk bad about him in that way because he was really good to me.

And yet you put him on blast.

Listen, I am always down for the shenanigans. But I also know that if this was a woman doing this, her name would probably be all sorts of synonymous with the term, “bitter jump-off” right now. And I’m not saying that he is. Actually, I’m not saying anything because I don’t know for sure who is or who is not telling the truth. Right now, it is Simpson’s word against Rhodes’s word – as well as some very suspicious pictures. We can infer all we want, but with this week in the media, with supposed reputable news sources getting their facts completely wrong, it has taught us that it’s best not to draw conclusions too quick.

Not that what these two consenting adults do is any of our business anyway, which is why I am happy to read some of the pushback to this sort of sexual outing. To me, it amounts to bullying. And I know certainly this would be the attitude if Simpson had been born with female chromosomes. If Simpson was a woman, we would be questioning where his self-respect and self-esteem had gone for daring to be so tacky as to go public with their intimate details. We would be calling girl Simpson a bird and accusing her of breaking all sorts of side-jawn codes. We would be testifying about how these cluck-clucks “do the most” and pondering about what he hoped to gain from exposing such a relationship. Money? Fame?

If Simpson was a woman, we most certainly would we imploring her to take responsibility for the role she played in this situation and verbally flogging her for the part she was playing in trying to ruin this man’s reputation. And then a friend on Facebook shared this link from Funky Dineva with me and I began to think about the nuances of the If-Simpson-were-a-woman comparison more fluidly:

There are also certain segments of the gay community who are using this story to promote their anti-feminine ignorance. Sites like Discreet City have been exploiting the story to further their own agenda. The Twitter account for the site sent out a tweet implying that Kerry Rhodes is in this situation because of feminine gay men, and that the actions of feminine gay men like Kerry’s alleged ex-boyfriend are why masculine gay men don’t like to mess with feminine gay men. It amazes me that people will use any situation as an excuse to scapegoat a group of people. Instead of looking at the ways that homophobia prevents all gay men from being viewed in a nuanced light, sites like Discreet City promote the ignorant view that the problems of gay men are rooted in the fact that some men are feminine. It’s as if the site thinks that homophobia would cease to exist if only all gay men were masculine–never mind that a significant chunk of homophobia rests on a overall hatred of men being with other men.”

Simpson gets a pass because what he says is not only scandalous but it also helps to stoke already existing paranoia around gay men, particularly gay black men. However, he does not get a pass from being on the outskirts of what is considered normal and acceptable masculinity. And in a lot of ways, his limp wrist, shrill voice and hip switching while walking are more uncomfortable and threatening than his actual loose lips. And why is this? Probably for the same reasons some call these men, “pu**ies” or “mitches” as a way to demean them.

Of course, the inference here is that anything associated with femininity and womanhood should be considered as weak, inferior, or less than manhood. And over the years I have learned that regardless of sexual orientation, there is nothing more important among men than maintaining “manhood” – or at least the perceived characteristics of what manhood is supposed to mean. It’s probably the reason why AP.9, the unknown rapper whose claim to fame was outing Ice-T’s wife Coco, can still maintain his “dignity,” despite his gossiping. And it is probably part of the reason why Rhodes doesn’t want to come out the closet – allegedly.

Yet and still, I am tired of the kiss and tell genre of gossip. Everybody is trying to be the next Karrine Steffans, but they come up looking just starved for attention. I don’t know enough about Simpson to make that determination, but anyone clamoring to get on reality television has to be looked at in a fishy manner. And unless Rhodes was some sort of right-wing, anti-everything nutjob preaching hate and intolerance while living this secret lifestyle, I don’t really see the relevancy in discussing who he is sleeping with. Honestly, if not for his connection to the NFL – and the homophobic connotation that is associated with the league – most folks wouldn’t care anything about who Rhodes was screwing. Most of you are probably even saying, “Who??” Plus, sexual snitching is just the worst, just think about Ray J.

Listen, I understand his feelings are probably hurt. Nobody – woman or man – likes to be viewed as a secret lover. I can imagine how it must feel to hold hands behind closed doors and once someone comes along, be shoved into the proverbial bushes – not that this has ever happened to me, but I do understand the feeling. With that said, did he not seem perfectly fine and cool with being shoved into the proverbial bushes prior to this very public outing? Maybe he had his money cut off. If you were conscious enough to accept that position before when he was tricking you off with red bottoms and car notes, you can’t quite claim victimhood now that you two are – allegedly – no longer together.

Don’t Be Ashamed! Tell-All Tea-Spilling Books You Know You Want to Read

Reality shows have made drama junkies of us all. And if 22 minutes a day of shade throwing and tea spilling just isn’t enough, you need to read one of these tell-all tea spillers. These authors have told on everyone from Tupac to Kim Kardashian and most of what’s in their pages is way too hot for TV. So if you need a book for the night stand, look no further.

Confessions of a Video Vixen

Confessions of a Video Vixen

This is the tea spiller that started it all. When Super Head wrote Confessions of a Video Vixen in 2005 she put almost every rapper in the game on blast from LL to Jay-Z.

The book is also about her struggles with homelessness, sexual assault, drug and alcohol abuse and it’s so scandalous that it made the New York Times Bestseller list. Before you read the rest you should check out the one that began the trend.

Superhead Strikes Again: Lil Wayne-Inspired Memoir, ‘How To Make Love To A Martian’ Released

A little over one month ago, we told you about an upcoming book release from Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, which she described as an “interpersonal literary project”. The memoir, which is accurately titled, How To Make Love To A Martian, provides an account of the six year relationship shared with Hip Hop heavyweight, Lil Wayne. Sure we already know that Karrine is no stranger to celebrity rendezvous, but what made this story particularly interesting is the fact that during the course of their six year relationship, Karrine has been married, Dwayne has been engaged (several times) and fathered multiple children. A description of the book found on Karrine’s website reads:

How To Make Love To A Martian is the fifth title from Karrine Steffans and part of a digi-trilogy. It is the true story of the unorthodox relationship between, New York Times best selling author, Karrine Steffans and multi-platinum rap super star Lil’ Wayne. Martian explores the idea of an impossible love and the transposition of power that often occurs when the love of your life is so out of reach, no matter how close they may seem. It explores the concept of unconditional love, even to one’s detriment, and the loss of life that occurs all in the name of holding on to something and someone so completely unobtainable. How To Make Love To A Martian is grossly interpersonal, introspective and riddled with secrets from a woman who dares to love a Martian, against all odds. “

Since the January announcement of her latest composition, Karrine has utilized her website to release a series of home videos in which she reveals juicy tidbits pertaining to her relationship with Wayne, including the fact that she was once pregnant by him. While she doesn’t reveal in the video what became of that pregnancy, I’m sure the tea gets spilled in the actual book. Unlike some of her previously published works, which were available in print and backed by major publishing houses, this memoir is self-published and only available in e-book format at the low price of $2.99.

Do you think this project will be as successful as her previously released books?

‘But, This Baby In My Stomach, How Would I Tell My Husband?’ Karrine Steffans Reveals That She Was Pregnant By Lil Wayne

Earlier this month, we told you guys that video vixen turned bestselling author Karrine Steffans is in the process of penning a book solely dedicated to her relationship with rapper Lil Wayne entitled, How To Make Love To A Martian. It seems that Karrine is doing everything to ensure that this book makes the bestsellers lists as well. She recently dropped a bomb that might have many giving her memoir a second glance. She revealed that she had gotten pregnant by Lil Wayne while she was married to another man.

The Confessions of a Video Vixen author recently uploaded another promotional video for her upcoming book to her Vimeo page where she is barely dressed and giving the world a taste of what they’re in for once her book drops.

“It had to come to this. I’d been with him so long, there was no way I’d leave him for my husband. There was no way I’d settle for a life without him, but no way I’d settle for a life with him –– a life on the road, swimming in a pool of women. But, this baby in my stomach, this secret, how would I tell my husband? How would I tell my lover? My Martian,” she narrates over footage of her posing seductively in bed.

Considering how fertile Wayne is and how ruthless Karrine confessed to being in her relationship with him, despite the fact that she was married, this story seems totally believable. The video doesn’t indicate whether she aborted the child or miscarried, nor does it imply exactly when this all occurred, but I’m sure  all of that will be revealed once this book is released. What I’m curious about is how Wayne is reacting to the idea that she’s composing an entire book about their relationship. I mean, some dirty laundry is bound to be revealed. I suppose we will all have to wait and see how this plays out.

Check out the actual video on the next page. Are you buying Karrine’s baby story or is this a ploy to ensure book sales?

Some Things Never Change: Karrine Steffans Drops Trailer Announcing New Book About Her Relationship With Lil Wayne

Exactly one month ago we reported on New York Times bestselling author Karrine Steffans openly expressing her undying love for rapper Lil Wayne and how their relationship has been ongoing through two of her marriages, the birth of three of his children, three engagements and a few other major life events.”We are indestructible and I find it fascinating,” she gushed to Vibe Vixen in a November interview. Yeah, she finds their relationship fascinating all right. So fascinating that she’s writing an entire book or what she refers to as an “interpersonal literary project” about their relationship. But catch this, the title of the book is How To Make Love To A Martian.

The former video vixen released a dramatic video trailer that announced she would be starting the writing process for the book via her Vimeo page. What’s even more interesting is that prior to her release of the video, many of her Twitter followers witnessed her have a complete meltdown in the form of a Twitter rant, which came as a result of Wayne mentioning her name in his new song “Kush and Alcohol”. “No makeup she a 10 and she the best with the head, even better then Karrine,” he rhythmically spits at some point in the song. One can’t say for sure which aspect of the quote set her off, the fact that he referenced her giving sexual favors in a song or that he’s saying that there’s someone better at it than her. But, whichever it was, Karrine certainly was not happy as she went into this whole brokenhearted spiel that gave the world a peek into their highly dysfunctional relationship.

“The morning after, where everything you said to each other plays over and over in your head.”

“When you’re trying to get over it and you know you never will and sh*t will never be the same.”

“Knowing someone meant to hurt you back and did it for everyone to see, though the day you hurt them, you did it in private.”

“When he says there’s nothing in the world he wouldn’t do for you, but, still, he couldn’t manage to not hurt you.”

And so on… I can’t say for sure what Karrine is expecting from Lil Wayne, but if these tweets serve as any indication as to what her book is going to be like, something tells me we are in for a ride.

Check out the video trailer for Karrine’s book on the next page. Be honest, are you at least a tiny bit interested in seeing what she has to say in her book? We won’t judge, I promise!

Leave That Lil’ Boy Alone! Karrine Steffans Releases Video Of Her And Bow Wow Spending ‘Quality Time’

So Karrine “Superhead” Steffans has been making headlines lately for all sorts of reasons. First, she was alleged to be the newest cast member of “Basketball Wives LA”, then for professing her undying love for Lil Wayne and now, for releasing a photo and a video of she and 106 and Park host, Bow Wow spending time together. Before your mind even goes there, it is not the type of video most would expect from the confessing video vixen — they both have their clothes on.

While the point of the video is unclear, it seems that the two were spending some “quality time” together after watching a football game at what looks like Bow Wow’s hotel room before he left town. The video opens with both Bow Wow and Karrine starring into a bathroom mirror and his first words were “It’s not what you think it is, okay?” I guess he knew exactly where our minds would go once we saw the two of them together. But who could blame us considering the fact that the two have been intimate before and that Karrine is known for laying down with famous rappers and getting up to talking about it. But anyway, Bow Wow proceeded to say all nice things about the former video girl stating that she is his “homie” and that he’ll “vouch” for her.  He seemed very adamant about letting it be know that the visit was strictly platonic and there was nothing sexual going in his little “disclaimer”.

“Just in case this goes somewhere this is my people. You already know you see a n***a on camera and you already know how yall n***as be thinking. Oh what they do? What they do before the video? What they do after they stopped it? Listen, no bulls**t, this is my peoples and y’all know I’m a good motherf***ing person so if I vouch for somebody it mean that they gotta be a good person,so unless y’all know her personally, y’all really can’t say nothing. She taught me how to wash clothes though. That’s all I gotta say.”

On the other hand, Karrine seemed as if she was trying to set him up for us to think otherwise by playfully asking him for a kiss and telling him how “cute” he looks. Guess he didn’t learn the first time she kiss and told on him and every other rapper in the industry.

Check out the actual video on the next page. Does the friendship seem platonic to you?

‘I’m Not Me Without Him:’ Karrine Steffans Speaks On Strange Relationship With Lil Wayne And Leaving Her Husband

December 3rd, 2012 - By Jazmine Denise Rogers

Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, the notorious video vixen who has had no qualms about publicly discussing her former relationships with high profile rappers since the release of her 2005 tell-all, Confessions of a Video Vixen, seems to have no issues with discussing her current ones either. In a recent interview with Vibe Vixen, the three-time New York Times bestselling author held nothing back as she discussed her multiple marriages, her divorce, and her ongoing relationship and love for Lil Wayne.

On still being in a relationship with Lil Wayne although she’s a married woman:

We were together up until a couple of months ago, while I’m still married to my second husband, while I’m still in Vegas with Lil Wayne. All this is going on at the same time.

On remarrying her current husband to get away from her ex-hubby, Darius McCrary:

My first husband [Darius McCrary] and I were good friends for like eight years before we started dating, then we got married and that marriage was tumultuous. It ended in divorce but we were still living together after our divorce, then all of a sudden I up and married someone last year unbeknownst to [Darius], just so I could end that relationship. The person that I’m married to now, I don’t even know this person. It was really just for show… It was very difficult to break those ties. But that didn’t even work because my first husband came back.I can’t shake Darius to save my f***ing life. Wayne has been in my life this whole time.

On the status of she and Wayne’s current relationship:

Wayne and I have kept a relationship through my two husbands, his three kids, three additional baby mamas, three of his albums, three of my books, three of his arrests, one year in prison and three engagements on his part. We are indestructible and I find it fascinating. I’m in constant contact with this person every day, every other day. He is a part of my being. I’m not me without him. He makes me very happy, [but] I couldn’t be with Wayne. I couldn’t live Wayne’s life… That relationship is everything to me, but it’s not what people think it is. It’s not sexual and it’s not financial. It is very spiritual and he’s like my battery pack. When I’m down, when I’m in a really rough space, he always pulls me out of that and he has no idea what he’s done for me.

Although the reformed video vixen says she couldn’t “be with Wayne” it is interesting that she left her husband and not long ago, Lil Wayne told MTV‘s Sway that he plans on seeing himself “happily married in the near future.” I wonder how his alleged girlfriend/fiancee feels about this “spiritual” relationship Karrine has with Wayne.

What do you think about Karrine talking about Wayne all the time?
