If you were on Instagram this weekend, you might have stumbled across the #ForeverDuncan hashtag. The hashtag told the story of Alfred and Sherelle Duncan, a couple who had been dating since 2013. But on October 1, 2016, Alfred decided to do something special for Sherrell. Alfred, a Grammy and Emmy nominated artist, proposed to Sherrell, a fitness trainer and speaker, at noon and married her at 5 p.m. in National Harbor, Maryland.

But before we talk about their actual wedding day, we have to give you a bit of the background. On a website created for the couple called Forever Duncan, we learn that the two were introduced by a mutual friend back in 2007 at a club in D.C.

They kept things very, very light at first. So light that they were only social media friends. It wasn’t until 2013, six years later, that Afred sent Sherrell a Facebook message commending her on her weightless journey. She responded with her phone number. They began dating that year and by the end of it, were an official, exclusive couple.

At the very end of 2015, the couple made the “difficult but necessary decision” to abstain from sex until marriage.

So back to the wedding day.

Alfred told Sherrell that they were going to have a competitive date day, where she would have to agree to do whatever Alfred said. He called it “Servitude Day.”

At the beginning of the day, with their friends and family serving as witnesses, he asked her to marry him. Then he sent her to various locations where she got her hair and makeup done and was outfitted in a Black, lace dress. She arrived at another venue which was the site of her wedding ceremony.

Needless to say, Sherrell nearly lost it, having a Holy Ghost moment as she saw all of her loved ones waiting for her to enter the venue.

The day ended with the couple engaging vows. In a video compilation of the whole day, Sherrelll shares some beautiful words for her new husband.

“I’m so happy that you love me this way. I’m happy that you chose to do this with me. I love you with my whole heart, baby. I can’t imagine what my life would be without you, I love you so much.”
