Fine phobia–it’s a real thing. Remember when Angie Stone said Idris Elba tried to date her and she didn’t want those problems?

The thing about fine men is usually we feel like we can’t trust them. We feel like they can have anyone they want and if they can have anyone they want, why should we trust them to be loyal? Nobody is really supposed to talk about this, and most attractive guys would never dare speak up about it for fear of being reprimanded, but some exceptionally attractive guys can have a hard time meeting women because of the exact concerns I just laid out! Every woman looks at them and thinks, “Eh. That guy doesn’t need my attention. Somebody else will give it to him.” Maybe it should be you though. Maybe the phobia should stop with you. Here are reasons to stop being afraid of fine men.

It’s not their fault

How would you like it if people wrote you off for being physically attractive and assumed a bunch of untrue things about you?

Don’t limit yourself

Wouldn’t it be a shame if the man for you were a sexy guy, but when he approached you at a bar, you turned him down all because of his looks? Finding love is hard enough! Why limit yourself?

Anyone can hurt you

Don’t be so quick to think that ugly or “less conventionally attractive” guys will never hurt you. All people of all sorts of appearances can hurt you.

That’s egotistical of you

So you want to always be the attractive one in the relationship, huh? That’s a bit egotistical.

So, why are other guys loyal?

If you think an attractive guy wouldn’t be loyal because he has unlimited options, then are you saying that the other guys you date are only loyal because they have no other options? Hmm. That doesn’t say much for your confidence.

Can’t you see past it?

If you’re worried the only reason you’d like an attractive guy is for his looks, then you don’t give yourself much credit for being able to really see someone for who they are.

It’s just a perk

You don’t only love your clothes because they’re gorgeous–you appreciate them for keeping you warm and showing who you are. But it doesn’t hurt that they’re gorgeous. See the analogy?

Looks can say a lot

Sometimes fine men are simply fine because they work out each day, they wear clothes that flatter them and they keep good hygiene. People who take care of their appearance are also usually organized and responsible.

Aren’t you exceptionally gorgeous too?

You should believe you are. That is an important self-love place to get to in life. And when you believe you’re beautiful, then everybody is beautiful and nobody is more beautiful any other–see my point?

Attraction is a good thing

Being physically attracted to your partner is a good thing! It’s part of what makes him your partner and not just your friend.

Attractive is relative

What’s attractive to you isn’t attractive to everybody. So don’t assume the guy you call “hot” is universally so.

You shouldn’t settle

If you write off an entire group of guys in your search for love, then you’ll always wonder, no matter who you end up with, if you settled. You may end up with somebody great, but you won’t appreciate them because you didn’t give yourself a fair shot at exploring all your options.
