8. Not Following Up After Attempting to Terminate a Pregnancy

The decision to terminate a pregnancy can be extremely difficult and emotional, so it’s understandable that a doctor’s office is the last thing a woman may want to repeatedly see when opting for a medication abortion early in her pregnancy. In general an abortion pill can be taken 9 weeks after the first day of a woman’s last period.  Many women choose this option because it can be completed within the comfort of their own home.  With that said, it is even more important to follow-up with a medical professional after completing the procedure to make sure the pregnancy has been successfully terminated to avoid any dangerous complications.
