Sometimes it can be very hard to tell if you’re just in the pre-relationship phase of a relationship or a dead-end booty call situation. The two can look similar –tons of sex and not a lot of emotional sharing going on — but if it is just a booty call, there is always that one painful moment you figure it out.
When he made breakfast for one
You woke up to find he had already made breakfast. In fact, he was already eating it. In fact he only made enough for one person and even asks you, “What are you planning to have for breakfast?”
When he had you pick him up from a date
He asks you to pick him up—he says he’d “love to see you.” As you drive to the address he’s gave you realize you’re pulling into cute-restaurant-territory. Then you realize he’s pretty dressed up standing on that corner. Then you realize he just put another woman in a cab.
When he had a date pick him up
Better yet (or worse yet?) he had a date pick him up from your place. To add insult to injury, he asked if he could just “hang here and watch TV until she comes to get me. Your house is closer to our date than mine is anyways.”
When he asked you for dating advice
Like showed you the text thread between him and another woman so you could analyze it and tell him what to do next.
When he hid from your roommates
When he quite obviously jetted between your room and the bathroom, and ran out to the kitchen to get water only when it was empty, so he wouldn’t have to talk to your roommates.
When he sobered you up so you could drive home
You came over to his place thinking you’d spend the night, so you drank a bit too much wine. Then, after sex, you said, “I’m a little too buzzed to drive home” and instead of offering for you to sleep over, he said, “That’s okay. I’ll make you some coffee.”
When he said, “Thank GOD you’re not a relationship person”
And you were like, “Um…I’m not? When did I give you that impression?”
When you were on your period and he canceled
Ouch. He could have at least pretended he was still cool with the hang out for a little while and then have “something come up” later.
OR you were on your period so he asked for head
He’s already at your place when you mention you’re on your period, and he starts to take his pants off and says, “That doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun.” That’s not exactly a woman’s idea of fun on her period. Ice cream and Netflix is.
When he was in your neighborhood and didn’t say hi
When you saw Instagram and Facebook photos of him at a bar just down the street from your place and he didn’t tell you he was there.
When he was suddenly WAY out of condoms
And you were just over two nights ago and he had like 20. Oh, and he had no problem saying, “Oh sorry. I used them all. Do you have any on you?”
When he left in the morning to do something fun
Like go hiking or go to brunch and he didn’t invite you.
When you tried to snuggle and he offered you more space
You thought he was accidentally too far on his side of the bed but nope. You tried to snuggle up next to him and he said, “Do you need more space? I can move over more.”
