You don’t have to have superhero cooking skills to impress your guests or your lover. Just a bit of presentation and dash of salt will do, if you follow these tips to impressive cooking below!
Stuffed Peppers
The thing about stuffed peppers is that they give you that look of “effort” you want in your food, without taking too much effort to make. Melt some garlic, butter, pepper and salt in the microwave for a few seconds – just so that the butter is still a bit thick – then cut open some big red peppers and brush the insides and outside with the flavored butter. Lay out the opened peppers on a sheet and roast them in the oven, until you see them browning just a little bit. When you remove them, let them cool and stuff them with your favorite easy-prep couscous or spicy rice…right out the box. Heck, you can even stuff them with pasta, and serve them with sausages on top or mushrooms on top. Sprinkle them with parmesan cheese. Et voila! You’re done. Your boo will be impressed by the presentation, and the taste…and he just might think you can cook!
Triangular Pita
Pita bread is yet another easy food to serve, and of course you can serve it with just store-bought hummus. But again, presentation is everything. You can turn a piece of round pita bread into triangular pieces of heaven, by cutting the bread into triangles and brushing the triangles with olive oil, thyme (and/or sesame), garlic, salt and pepper. Place the triangles in a frying pan and brown them. Then, arrange them around a plate in a circle, leaving some space in the middle. Fill that middle space with a) your favorite shredded meats and cheeses or b) fresh salsa with sliced, peeled, mangoes. Three words: to. die. for! Oh, and one more word: impressive!
Yummy Pizza Bagels
The easiest meal of all time is the pizza bagel, which you can prepare two ways. Either will look cute–and again, the presentation will be impressive. The first way is to take a full-sized bagel, cut it open and spread some pasta sauce or tomato sauce on each open bagel. Then, spread each open bagel with mozzarella cheese (on top of the sauce). If the food is to be eaten instantly, then microwave the bagel until the cheese melts, i.e. for just a few seconds. Don’t microwave for too long, otherwise the bagel will become hard. If it’s not to be eaten immediately, then place it on a sheet in the oven until the cheese melts.
The second way is to take cute little bagel sizes, split them open and place a slice of cheddar on each slice. Then, place a slice or two of tomato on top of the cheddar, and place the bagels in the oven until the cheese melts.
*Feel free to place any toppings you love on the bagels!
Yummy! And…impressive.
