You have long workdays that sometimes continue on even when you get home. It’s tough to be on the grind, but you put in the work because you know in the end, you’ll be in a better position. Create a special meditation nook in your home so that no matter what, you know that you’ll always have a little corner of serenity in your world. Creating a meditative space in your home is fun and easy. Plus you’ll be so glad you did it!
Here’s how to create a meditation corner within minutes:
1. Choose a quiet corner in your home
Your meditation experience doesn’t have to take place at a yoga class or some other outside place to meet your spiritual needs. You can set up shop in your private bungalow: the house! Depending on your preference and lifestyle needs, some of the best spots could be in the bedroom, living room or other even a home office. Stay away from the room that shares a wall with your noisy neighbor.
2. Remove clutter
A cluttered space is often reflective of a cluttered mind. Start your meditation nook off right by clearing out all unnecessary items. Clean, neat, organized.
3. Include items that enhance the meditation experience
Create a space that comforts all of your senses. A small water fountain could provide visual and audio calmness, serene pictures are a plus, scented candles are heavenly and beads or other spiritual objects allow you to keep your hands occupied.
4. Get a comfortable mat or pillow
It’s easier to enjoy meditation when you have a mat or pillow to provide comfort and balance to the body. Choose a size, color or texture that please you and make you smile. Make this space your own.
5. Commit to it
Now that you have this clean, organized, smile-inducing space, you just have to use it. Commit to enjoying your new meditation corner at least once a day. If you can commit yourself to go to those dreadful staff meetings on a regular basis, you can commit to do something for yourself. Put your “me time” in your Blackberry if you need to!
