You might not consider this profession to be as labor-intensive as others, but when you compare the average calories burned an hour (around 200 depending on the effort) with construction workers (average around 290 calories burned an hour), it’s not that far off. Bakers tend to stand on their feet for a good amount of the day and have to bend and lift materials putting them in the oven on a regular basis.
