When most people hear the name Karrine Steffans and the word advice put together in a sentence, they assume that bedroom tips are to follow; however, over the past few years, the New York Times bestselling author has also been doling out her share of relationship advice. During a recent interview with 106 KMEL’s Shay Diddy, the former video vixen dished on what she believes is required to keep a man.

“I wrote a blog post about how women and [how we keep] our homes affects our relationships,” she said. “You would never think about it, but most of my friends are men, so I sit around with them and I hear a lot about what they think about women. I hear men talk about walking into women’s homes and just being disgusted with the mess or the bathroom and there’s hair everywhere. There’s the sheets and hello kitty on them, and the dishes don’t match and the towels are bleached out.”

According to the video vixen-turned-author, how a a woman keeps her house determines how a man will treat her.

“Men pay attention,” she said. “They don’t say anything. They’re not as verbal as we are, but they register the information and it teaches them how to treat you. And it lets him know right away whether you’re marriage material or not. It lets him know whether he’ll be staying there or not… whether he’s going to watch the game there, whether he’s going to spend the night there. He knows how much time he’s going to spend with you based on how you design your home. It’s really a serious thing.”

Steffans went on to say that one of her top three tips for keeping a man is keeping your mouth shut.

“Subservience, humility and shut-up. Shut your mouth. You talk too much. You say too much, you do too much. Be quiet. Just be quiet, just say ‘yes’ to everything. Why not? Why can’t you just say, ‘okay?'”

“I always tell a man, ‘Do what makes you happy.’ If I’m not a part of your happiness, then that’s fine. Do whatever makes you happy, but understand also, that what makes you happy may not make me happy. But I’m not going to tell you not to do that. If that makes you happy, you should do so. But be forewarned, if that doesn’t make me happy, then you run the chance of losing me. And if that’s okay with you, then it’s okay with me… but I’m also gonna do what makes me happy.”

Steffans also discussed her “Confessions of a Video Vixen” memoir being turned into a Fox TV series

“That was a difficult experience,” Steffans said of penning her first book, which exposed her behind-closed-doors dealings with numerous rap stars. “It was the first time I’d ever admitted those things to myself. So it was cathartic,” she continued.

“Confessions has been optioned by Fox for a scripted television series, so we’re now in pre production for that. We just brought our writer on. I’m going to check him out in the new year and see if I like him and if I do, we’re going to go ahead with our pilot and start production next year.”
