Biting The Hand: Celebs Who Insulted The People Who Put Money In Their Pockets - Page 4
Katherine Heigl >> Shonda Rhimes
In 2008, Katherine Heigl was making plans to leave the show that put her on the map, “Grey’s Anatomy.” And in a move to add insult to injury she opted not to enter the Emmy competition for best supporting actress. And instead of just bowing out quietly, she said,
“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.”
Ooo Katherine. That’s messy as hell. So she left the show in 2010 and went on to star in a few sub par romantic comedies. She got paid but she certainly burned a few bridges along the way and probably made people hesitant about working with her. In 2012, Heigl expressed that she’d like to return to the show and explore other avenues for Izzie’s character. Uhh no boo. That’s not how it works. Like Shonda vaguely told Oprah, she knew Heigl was a bit shady early on and she should have followed Maya Angelou’s and then Oprah’s advice: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”
