Oftentimes when couples mix business with pleasure, it can cause tension in the relationship but not for these couples. Here are 15 celeb couples that became partners in the bedroom and boardroom.
WENNDaytime darling Kelly Ripa met her husband Mark Consuelos on the set of ABC’s “All My Children.” After keeping their relationship a secret for over a year, the couple snuck off to Vegas to elope. Ripa and Consuelos continued to play married couple Hayley and Mateo on the soap opera for six years until leaving the show. Having no problem working together, Ripa and Consuelos founded production company Milijo in 2007 and made several films that premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival.
Once he married into the Kardashian clan, Lamar Odom joined the family business of reality television. After the success of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” starring sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, the NBA star and his wife snagged their own spin-off show. “Khloe & Lamar” aired for two seasons before the couple reportedly pulled the plug on their own show so Odom could focus on his basketball career. The husband and wife also released the unisex cologne Unbreakable.
Jay-Z dominates the rap game while Beyonce rules the R&B/pop world so it was only right that the couple has occasionally teamed up together for a few songs, including the smash hit “Crazy In Love.” Outside of the music realm, both Jay-Z and Beyonce have separately made their presence known in the business world. Among other things, the Brooklyn rapper has a chain of nightclubs, part owner of an NBA team and just recently announced his foray into sports management. Beyonce has signed on to be the face of Pepsi and made her directorial debut with her HBO documentary. In addition to their music collaborations, the power couple is also the proud parents of Blue Ivy, which may prove to be their biggest partnership yet since they applied to trademark their daughter’s name in connection to everything from entertainment to retail.
Jennifer Lopez proves time and time again that it is possible to mix business with pleasure. The singer/actress teamed up with then-husband Marc Anthony for several joint business ventures including a Spanish competition show. Lopez and Anthony have continued their professional relationship after the marriage was over so it came as no surprise that Lopez would want to work with her new boyfriend. Back-up dancer Casper Smart was promoted to lead choreographer for her upcoming tour. The former “American Idol” judge also scored a reality show for her sweetheart that is slated to premiere on the Oxygen network.
Although they never married, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been together longer than most married Hollywood couples. Meeting on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band and then reconnecting again with the film Swing Shift, Russell and Hawn officially began dating before starring together in the 1987 comedy Overboard. Dubbed the gossip queen, Williams became known for drilling her guests during interviews, asking questions she knows her audience would ask, even if it made the artist uncomfortable. Williams has made the transition from radio to television with the successful run of “The Wendy Williams Show,” currently in its fourth season. Helping her through her rise to the top is husband and manager Kevin Hunter, Sr. The couple has been married since 1998 and has one child together.
Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil are the creative minds behind one of television’s most successful sitcoms, “Girlfriends.” The writer/director duo founded Akil Productions company back in 2000 and are also responsible for the spin-off “The Game” as well as the remake of the movie Sparkle. Up next for the couple is BET’s “Being Mary Jane,” starring Gabrielle Union. In addition to their business partnership, Mara and Salim are also the proud parents of two sons Yasin Brock Akil and Nasir Brock Akil.
