From Pimple Face To The Face: Acne-Prone Celebs Who Became Proactiv® Spokespersons
Celebrities may have the money to afford them access to the best skincare in the world, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still suffer from acne and other irritated skin problems. This list highlights 10 such celebrities, but in their special cases, instead of shrinking back from the cameras they stood directly in front of them and presented their acneic skin for dollars – sometimes as much as $2 to $3 million of them! – as Proactiv® spokespersons.
The media has never been very sympathetic to Alicia Keys’ breakout problems, but this girl on fire wasn’t going to let a little acne or unnecessary shade get in her way. She became a Proactiv® spokesperson years ago and now appears to have much clearer skin.
Britney Spears reportedly partnered with Proactiv® because of her genuine love for the product and belief in its results. Not sure whether that’s true or not, but I would say that Britney’s skin has improved over the years. Is Proactiv® to thank for that? Who knows. But Britney remains one of the company’s top paid and best spokesmodels.
When you’re kicking arse on a tennis court in front of millions, the last thing you should be worrying about is a stupid breakout, right? Definitely. Serena Williams began using Proactiv®, signed on to be the face, and claims to have seen a visible difference in two to three days.
There’s nothing good about adult acne – a fact that made Vanessa Williams a great spokesperson for the brand. She’s not just a sufferer, but a likeable, authentic, and endearing one.
Signing Justin Bieber on to be a spokesperson was a major achievement for Proactiv® – even if he did only have teenage “zits” and not full scale acne as many of the other celebrity spokespersons did. His endorsement brought concrete credibility to the brand – at a multi-million dollar price, of course.
Proactiv® scored major cool points when Diddy famously declared that the face clearing brand helped him “moisturize [his] situation and preserve [his] sexay.”
It’s hard to imagine Lindsay Lohan being a credible spokesperson for much of anything these days. But back in 2006, the young star promoted Proactiv® in her own version of the brand’s famous infomercials. Unfortunately, many consider Lindsay to have been one of the worst spokespersons (much of her legal drama kicked off in 2006 and detracted from her endorsement).
Jessica Simpson’s struggles with acne combined with her endearing-albeit-ditzy personality (this was around the time of Newlyweds) made her the perfect Proactiv® spokesmodel back in the early to mid-2000’s.
Katy Perry and her “acne blemishes” have never had much success avoiding the high power zoom lens of paparazzi cameras. So she stopped trying, acknowledged her acne – because hellooo we could all see it anyway… and signed a contract with Proactiv®. To this day, she remains one of the brand’s best celebrity spokespersons.
Offering Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne a position as spokesmodel was a no-brainer for the marketing gurus at Proactiv® – she was using the product to treat her acne well before signing her multi-million dollar contract to promote it.
