You would think this would be obvious, but being an award winning musician does not automatically qualify you to suddenly become an actor. In fact, there really is no connection at all; but for some reason, these artists have fooled themselves into believing there is. Sure there are the few exceptions like Will Smith, who was able to cross over into acting without any acting training at all; but let’s be real, most musicians are NOT and will NEVER be Will Smith. Somehow, that didn’t stop them from trying. Here are 10 singers or rappers who tried their hand at acting… and failed:

50 Cent
Sure the autobiographical movie, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ had something of an interesting story line, and some might say it was worth it just to see 50 cent’s booty alone; but when you actually look at more than 50 cent’s behind, he is a not so good actor. This was another case of “acting” like yourself…and even though the movie was about him, he still had a hard time making his own storyline seem convincing.

Mariah Carey
Not everything that glitters shines… and unfortunately Mariah’s acting career will always be tainted by her big screen debut in Glitter, a movie that failed at the box office. Yes she improved slightly with her role as Ms. Weiss in Precious, but realistically, any actress could have done what she did. Hopefully Mariah realizes that she should stick to using that beautiful singing voice of hers, because she’s clearly not good at using her face…

Beyoncé
We can’t say we didn’t give Beyoncé multiple chances on this one. She had Austin Powers: Goldmember, The Fighting Temptations, Dreamgirls and a few more to prove that she had some acting chops. Unfortunately, the 3 strikes and you’re out rule didn’t work and she even attempted to do her first thriller with Obsessed. Believe it or not, she somehow managed to make a distressed woman not look very distressed at all. It’s definitely safe to say at this point that Beyoncé will likely never become the convincing actress that we had hoped for.

Master P
Does anyone even remember when Master P tried to act? Probably not, because it was so bad that you wouldn’t even want to remember it. This is a perfect example of money not being able to buy you everything. Despite No Limit Records producing some of his films, they weren’t able to produce good acting skills. I Got The Hook Up turned out to be not much of a hook up after all…

Ashanti’s acting career was literally a classic example of “She’s popular so let’s just put her face on everything to attract attention.” People threw her in John Tucker Must Die, Coach Carter and in a couple of other films. Sadly, the only thing that got attention were her terrible acting skills. Even the Muppets in The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz couldn’t make her look good…

Somehow Jessica Simpson manages to distract audiences from how terrible her acting is by playing the hot chick every time, in movies like The Dukes of Hazzard. Sorry, but you’re not fooling us. Her acting is about as convincing as Michael Jackson denying plastic surgery…

Ludacris
Sure he did an okay job in the movie Crash; but let’s face it, when it comes down to it, Ludacris is mediocre at best. He’s another example of an actor who just “acts” like himself in every movie. Ludacris is literally a perfect example of why Samuel L. Jackson complained about rappers being actors…thanks for proving him right Luda!

Sadly, “Girl Power” doesn’t translate into the power to act. Their acting was actually so bad, they the producers even tried to make them act as an exaggerated version of themselves. That still didn’t make it easier for them because the entire movie was a joke from the beginning to end. You know it’s true when even some of the most hardcore Spice Girl fans didn’t like it…
