According to Long Island-based dietitian, chef, and nutritionist Nicolette Pace and several other health experts, the right meal can do more than just satisfy your hunger; it can ignite desire and boost performance in the bedroom where it really counts. Before you start lighting candles and cueing up your bedroom playlist, might we suggest firing up something else first—like your oven? Your next steamy night might start with a trip to the kitchen.
So, what’s on the menu for a night of good vibes and amazing sex? Let’s dish.
1. Oysters

Long before they became the appetizer of choice for bougie brunches, oysters were rumored to be the food of the gods, specifically Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Turns out, the hype has some truth to it. Packed with lean protein and zinc, oysters can help boost testosterone and dopamine, the dream team of desire, blood flow, and physical stamina, Pace explained to The New York Post in an interview published June 11.
“Zinc acts to balance testosterone and dopamine for enhanced libido, blood flow, and physical enhancement,” she said.
Before a good romp session, whip up a plate of oysters with garlic, salt, and a little lemon. You can also make an oyster gratin, a dish where oysters are baked or broiled with a creamy sauce, often topped with breadcrumbs and cheese, creating a golden, gratinated crust.
Pace recommended making this delicious dish with butter-sautéed shallots, sherry, and parsley.
Slurp accordingly.

2. Ribs

Nothing says “let’s get primal” like biting into some bone-in meat. According to Pace, ribs (especially pork) are a surprisingly sexy pick. They’re lean, loaded with protein, B vitamins for energy, zinc, selenium, and iron. They come with a little natural sweetness.
While barbecue ribs might sound like the ultimate pre-romance indulgence, dietitian Pace said they’re not exactly a turn-on for your body. High-fat, sugary sauces can lead to brain fog, sluggishness, and may even interfere with your grand finale.
Instead, she recommended a “naked marinade” made with apple butter, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and a hint of coconut oil, which is packed with flavor, light, and libido-friendly.
Finger-licking has never sounded so seductive.
3. Watermelon

Turns out, watermelon isn’t just for poolside snacking. It’s practically a slice of sexy science. Rich in citrulline, this juicy fruit helps increase nitric oxide production, which in turn relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow down there, according to WebMD.
Want to turn it into a real treat? Try grilling up some watermelon to add as a sweet and fresh component to a salad before sexy time.
4. Chocolate

If you needed another excuse to keep a stash of dark chocolate, here it is. This classic aphrodisiac isn’t just romantic fluff; it boosts serotonin—your happiness hormone—and phenylethylamine, a brain chemical that mimics the feelings of being in love.
Vinmec also notes that the tasty sweet treat is packed with phosphorus, zinc, selenium, and potassium, which is crucial for energy production and will give you the strength needed to go all night long in the bedroom.
Melted chocolate over strawberries or eating it straight up is just fine. So yes, that chocolate craving might just be your libido talking and the key to elevating your sex life to the next level.
5. Coffee or tea

Caffeine doesn’t just perk you up in the morning; it might also give your love life a little boost. Caffeinated coffee or tea stimulates your nervous system and can improve bedroom performance, especially for men. It works by dilating blood vessels and relaxing smooth muscle tissue, including the kind involved in maintaining an erection, potentially fighting against erectile dysfunction, Health Beat notes.
In fact, a 2015 study of over 3,700 men found that those who drank two to three cups of coffee a day were slightly less likely to experience erectile dysfunction compared to those who skipped the brew.
Simply put, better circulation may lead to better performance in the sack. So, the next time you think about having some early morning delight with your partner, go for a hot cup of coffee beforehand. Just don’t go overboard right before bed, unless your idea of foreplay includes insomnia.
The next time you’re planning a night of romance, skip the heavy pasta and go for something a little lighter, a little spicier, and a whole lot sexier because when it comes to passion, your plate might just be your greatest asset.
