Lucas Coly, the rapper best known for his, 2016 hit single “I Just Wanna,” has sadly passed away, according to a statement shared by this manager on Oct. 22. A coroner’s report obtained by the Daily Mail noted that the young rapper died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, however, an official statement has not yet been shared via his socials.

On Tuesday, Coly’s manager, who identifies as @IDiscoverStars, shared a picture of what appeared to be a funeral program for the hip-hop artist to his Instagram page, announcing his death. According to the image, Coly passed away on Oct. 2.

“Rest well Lucas. Today was the hardest day of my life but I have to keep going. @Ghazi @empire let’s have a conversation,” @IDiscoverStars penned. “Lucas always wanted to help people. Let’s continue the hope starting with his closest friends.”

Coly wanted to be a cross-over artist, according to his manager.

In a post dated Oct. 4, the manager expressed his grief over Coly, stating that he was avoiding “listening to anything with his voice” as a way to cope with the heartbreaking loss. He also revealed that Coly was on a mission to become “a crossover artist” shortly before his death.

“The truth is these algorithms make it so hard for artists to push their music to their supporters” @IDiscoverStars continued. “It would be a dream of mine if we can all get together and stream his songs until we can chart. Lucas never got radio play and refused to sell out. It hurts seeing all the press he’s getting now. We wanted that while he was here. But being non-problematic isn’t press-worthy. Ask your radio stations to play your favorite Lucas Coly song.”

@IDiscoverStars added, “Also how I am choosing to grieve is different. I want to stop crying, so keeping his dream alive is helping me. Someone told me at a dinner yesterday, make them proud. That’s honoring their legacy. So that’s what I’m hoping to do. Everyone, please let’s all work together to help Lucas chart. So the whole world will know my brother for his talent. Truly a once-in-a-generation talent.”

What happened to Lucas?

A coroner’s report issued by the Clark County Office of Corner and Medical Examiner confirmed that Coly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his home state of Nevada, the Daily Mail noted. Amber Harrison, Coly’s ex-girlfriend, alleged that she heard the rapper fire the shot that ended his life during a phone conversation, according to a clip shared by the Shade Room.

“When I was on the phone, and I heard it, I screamed. I said, ‘No, no, no, he did it. He did it.’ I said ‘Mom, mom, mom, call 911,” Harrison cried. She discussed his death in several social media videos, mentioning that he had allegedly threatened to take his life if they didn’t reconcile following their breakup.

Additionally, she criticized fans online who were blaming her for the rapper’s tragic passing.

“How f-king dare you? Nine years, and you think I f-king stood here like a pole, stop sign? On froze, just like…,” Harrison added. “Are you slow? I did…everything I could. That’s all I can say,” she added. “I did everything I could. He could not take the break-up, and that’s just what it is. I couldn’t do it anymore,” Harrison said. “So don’t fault me for choosing myself ’cause would you rather be saying RIP Lucas and Amber?”

Speculation about the young star’s death intensified earlier this week after he shared a troubling final message with fans on Instagram. The post featured a poignant message from the 27-year-old that read, “I love y’all.” Coly, who was born in France and relocated to the United States at the age of eight, gained prominence through his presence on Vine. In 2018, he and Amber Harrison launched a YouTube channel, as reported by The Sun.

In August, the rapper released his latest single, “No Comp,” according to his Instagram page.
