Love Is Blind

The Love Is Blind reunion premiered on Thursday, and yes, I have [SPOILERS] coming your way about all that went down when all the couples, some still together and many not, reunited for the first time in front of cameras since filming in 2018.

Hosts Nick and wife Vanessa Lachey asked everyone about the juiciest, most drama-filled moments of the season. Season 1 came with a lot action. If you’ll recall, Carlton Morton and Diamond Jack, despite not making it, were perhaps the most talked about couple. Their engagement lasted a short time outside of the pod after he revealed during the honeymoon that he was bisexual and her reaction didn’t end up being what he’d hoped for. There was also Mark Cuevas and Jessica Batten. While he was sure from the pods that he wanted to marry her, Jessica has had too many things holding her back. There was the 10-year age difference, the fact that Mark was shorter than the men she was used to, and of course, the fact that, oh yeah, she still seemed to be stuck on fellow participant Barnett (whose name is actually Matt Barnett). Despite their fiery chemistry, Damian Powers and Giannina “GG” Gibelli could be a bit too explosive during arguments, to the point that Damian said “I don’t” on the big day. And even though they looked like they were feeling each other, and making a connection in lieu of having sex, Kenny Barnes was shook when Kelly Chase turned down the opportunity to marry him on their wedding day.

There were success stories, though. They included Barnett and Amber Pike, and everyone’s favorite wholesome couple, our friend Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton. Both couples agreed on their “I do,” and more than a year later, they are still married.

So where does everyone stand on their experience after the airing of Season 1, and the show becoming a hit? Hit the flip to find out.

Lauren and Cameron’s Families Are One Big Happy Family

According to the adorable couple, they are happier than ever. Cameron said being with the beauty has “changed me in many ways,” and even their families are close. They all spent Thanksgiving together and Cameron has a great relationship with Lauren’s once skeptical father. The couple also bought a puppy they named Sparks, because of the sparks that flew immediately between them on the show. So what’s next for them? Kids possibly. Though Lauren said she could see them expanding their family “one day,” Cameron said “hopefully soon.”

Amber Called Jessica a “Sheisty” B—h

Not only that, but Amber also called Jessica “fake.” This is obviously because of the fact that Amber watched the series, and watched the way that Jessica not only was on Barnett like white on rice behind her back, but also talked poorly about her to him. In addition, she said it was wrong because Jessica came in her face like they were friends when that clearly wasn’t the case. It got a little catty in that moment, but she told her like it was. Jessica would apologize, and Amber accepted the intent behind the apology but said she wasn’t in the place to really forgive her and forget.

Jessica Cringed At Herself on the Show

There was a consensus for those watching that Jessica had gone a tad too far during the season. She drank too much, she wasn’t the kindest to Mark, and she consistently tried to plant a seed of doubt in Barnett’s mind about his relationship with Amber because she seemed to want to be with him. After watching the season, Jessica admitted her behavior was cringeworthy. It was so bad, she decided to take some time away, a few months actually, to do some inner work and get her act together. With that in mind, she got to the reunion ready to apologize for her behavior, not only to Mark, but also to Amber and Barnett, too. We could respect that.

Carlton Did a Lot of Self-Reflection

While Carlton is glad that he got to do a lot of work on himself after the show, he’s sad that love didn’t work out for him. He claimed that proposing to Diamond, even though things didn’t go the distance, was “by far the the happiest day of my life. Like to the point where I’m actively trying to top it so that we can just move to the next chapter of my life.” Nevertheless, the controversial figure is proud of the story he told on the show, even if it wasn’t handled in the best way.

GG and Damian Couldn’t Stay Away From Each Other

As crazy as it was to watch Damian say no on his wedding day to marrying GG, and her very hurt response to that, those two reconnected after the show and it seems they didn’t miss a beat. Like Jessica, seeing themselves on TV, GG specifically, made them want to work on themselves and give their relationship another chance. They’re still an emotional pair, but they’re doing things differently, including living separately and taking things, obviously, a lot slower.

A Number of Guys Were Interested in Lauren

Though Lauren found love with Cameron, she actually dated other people who ended up getting engaged on the show. Surprisingly, Kenny said he talked to Lauren a few times and was surprised to see how “stunning” and “captivating” she ended up being outside of the pods (and with Cameron). She also actually had something of a connection with Damian of all people, with them saying they had “the best conversations.” The two dated a number of times in the pods, and claimed they even liked to do voices from Star Wars with one another.

Carlton and Diamond Got Death Threats

One thing I could definitely appreciate was that even though Carlton and Diamond obviously went unexpectedly head to head on the show, he had her back during the reunion. He was sorry for calling her a “b—h” on the show. He also shut down claims that she was biphobic just because of her confusion over his sexuality. It was nice to see him defend her because so much commentary surrounding him had been that he was the victim in things. “The woman that I fell in love with, I never felt she was biphobic, homophobic or that she wouldn’t love me,” he told the hosts. However, he did get some really crappy death threats from people who didn’t like how he handled things. She also got them from people who felt she didn’t handle things well. She said people had it all wrong. “My goal right there in that scene was to talk to him and get more perspective because I didn’t know anything about [bisexuality].”

Barnett And Amber Almost Didn’t Make It

Though they are in a great place now, Amber admitted that at one point once the cameras cut off, that they were considering divorcing because of the expectations they had and the struggles that came with learning each other. It also didn’t help that sis wasn’t working at one point…Thankfully though, they were able to figure out things and be respectful to one another. All in all, it was just how fast things had moved that impacted them early on.

Carlton Regretted Not Being Upfront and Honest

When asked if he could go back if he would have told her sooner, Carlton said “I would have done whatever it takes to be sitting on the couch as happy as these people…I would’ve done whatever it took had I known then that that’s what it took to sit here happily married.” He admitted he let fear sink in about the whole situation. It’s something he’s still working through in his everyday life.

Carlton Re-Proposed to Diamond

Not in the way you think, though. He threw the ring in the pool when they were on their honeymoon after their explosive confrontation, but Carlton actually went and got the ring out of the water. After everything that happened, he wanted to clean things up with her, and did so in a unique way. He gave her back the ring, not as a physical agreement of a marriage to come, but to apologize and ask for friendship “and the start of something beautiful, without any type of plan.”
