CHI has been around for quite some time. The brand’s Silk Infusion was my go-to product for a long time for adding major shine to my hair, but that was the extent of my experience with its haircare collection.
Until now.
The haircare brand recently launched a new 7-piece line for natural curls and texture called CHI Aloe Vera with Agave Nectar at Ulta Beauty, with the products geared towards enhancing 2A to 4C curl types. Most of the items are also 95 percent natural.
The Aloe Vera, Agave Nectar, and Super Hydration blend in the products is geared towards hydration and has a low PH to help moisturize, protect and care for curls while helping to define, create and maintain the natural curl pattern of each strand. The formula also helps lock in moisture to guard against humidity and provide easier maintenance of curly hair.
The Aloe Vera in the collection also helps soothe dry skin and scalp, improves elasticity and strength, and helps retain hair moisture.
I gave the collection a try to dish on the top five items in the CHI Aloe Vera collection that I think work best for naturally curly hair, and to give my take on each one. As any woman with natural hair knows, finding products that work for your hair is a process, and each person is different.
So, keep that in mind as you try these out.

CHI Aloe Vera Oil – $25
I loved this oil for extra shine. The CHI Aloe Vera Oil ($25.00, ulta.com) infused with Aloe Vera and silk and is geared towards fortifying weak strands and reducing breakage and dryness. It also seals in moisture and smoothness to control frizz. It also helps define, smooths, and moisturize curls, and helps reduce frizz. My hair gets really dry, so I needed something more than just the oil to moisturize my hair. If your hair tends to dry out easily, I would recommend applying this after you’ve moisturized and styled your hair for extra shine.

CHI Aloe Vera Curl Enhancing Shampoo – $20.00
The Aloe Vera Curl Enhancing Shampoo ($20.00, ulta.com) was another one of my favorite products in the collection. Certain shampoos can leave my hair feeling stripped of moisture and tangled, and this one did just the opposite. It’s a gentle lather shampoo that cleanses hair of impurities without removing natural hair oils. It’s infused with aloe vera, agave nectar and Super Hydration Blend to enhance curl definition, moisture, and enhance curl definition.

CHI Aloe Vera Detangling Conditioner, $21.00
I liked the CHI Aloe Vera detangling conditioner ($21.00, ulta.com), but thought it might be better suited for curly girls that were not in the 4A-4C range. The formula is moisturizing and helped detangle my hair, but it’s a little on the thin side. So, keep that in mind if conditioners that have a thicker consistency work for you. The conditioner is geared towards defining curls and locking in moisture. It’s also infused with silk for added softness.

CHI Aloe Vera Moisturizing Curl Cream, $25
The CHI Aloe Vera Curl Cream ($25.00, ulta.com) is a lightweight cream that moisturizes and enhances natural curls to create bouncy, defined curls. It also polishes and smooths and helps tame frizz. I liked this product for a lightweight curl cream for polishing up wash and go look for summer without weighing my hair down. It didn’t help with my curl definition, but it did polish and smooth my hair. This is another product that I think would work best for curly girls in the 3A-3C range.

CHI Aloe Vera Humidity Resistant Leave-In Conditioner, $20
I’m always looking for a leave-in conditioner that will help my hair battle days with crazy humidity during the summer, and I really liked this one. The CHI Aloe Vera Humidity Resistant Leave-In Conditioner ($20.00, ulta.com) is designed to resist humidity and condition to tame dryness and frizz. It also provides increased elasticity for protection against breakage.
