When Forbes released its list of the world richest people this year, it wasn’t so surprising that so few of the billionaires were African. Although the continent has come a long way economically and is going through a renaissance phase with the focus on frontier markets and the massive investment from China, it’s still lagging behind significantly. Nevertheless, there are a handful of individuals that are capitalizing on the continent’s resources and have managed to propel themselves to the status of world’s richest.
