Prince George’s Developers May be Asked for More Minority Involvement to Qualify for Tax Breaks
(Gazette) — The Prince George’s County Council is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to request specific goals for minority-based participation in developments that receive special tax incentives. Under County Resolution 98, any company that applies for Tax Increment Financing — a special arrangement where the county helps finance a development project and defers some of the taxes until a later date, when the property assessment is expected to be higher — would be asked to use a county-based, minority-owned business for at least 20 percent of construction and services on its project.
