Who could forget Brandy’s ex- “husband” Robert Smith? Brandy told media back in 2002, around the time that she got pregnant with her daughter Sy’rai, that the couple secretly wed in 2001. And after three years of allegedly being married, the couple split in 2004. It was soon after this time that Smith went on multiple radio stations in New York to say that he and Brandy were never married but that they pretended to be to preserve B Rocka’s wholesome image. He also claimed that he wasn’t in love with the singer romantically, but loved her just as a friend. These statements were extremely hurtful to the singer, who had to come out and admit they weren’t ever legally married:
“He is trying to destroy my reputation while using me and our daughter to get publicity and radio airplay for his artists. I am stunned that he is being so dirty about it.”
