6 Ratchet Behaviors Ig’nant People Should Give Up for Lent

In the Christian tradition, Lenten season is a period of prayer, good works and sacrifice in the forty days leading up to the Thursday before Easter Sunday. Traditionally people give up something in order to show their dedication to God. Whether you’ve decided to subtract or add something to your daily routine, we can all make improvements. While we all could stand to grow, there are some of us who are out here living the trife life. Sad thing is, many of these people don’t even know it. Here’s what these individuals should eliminate for lent, if not forever.

I appreciate the one about not intimidating white folks for kicks, but I’d ad that nobody should do that to anybody. It is done by the weak to make themselves feel a little powerful.

@ Renay Alize. This article sucks! It seems as though you emphasized things that may have embarrassed you as a Black person. It seems like the stereotypes others judge us by makes you ashamed if those behaviors are practiced in public. I am sorry about that for you; racism does affect peoples psychi.
For instance yelling at a child in public… sometimes it has to be done. However, using profanity and total disrespect is never good… in public or not.
Eating a chicken wing…unfortunately our more and more busy schedules do not permit eating while sitting, or at home so, we have to eat on the go at times. Like you see people walking the streets eating pizza, gyros, hot dogs, Mickey D’s nuggets, burgers…. OH but don’t eat the chicken wing… white folks might see us. And never eat watermelon in public huh. Get a grip.
The only public indecency I would say that I agree with you is having the extra LOUD scent on you. It’s like having liquor breath, which alcohol abuse is highly associated with whites, ignorant or not (stereotypically or not as well). But you chose to only the substance more associated with Blacks. ( I guess the term ig’nant can only apply to Blacks huh )
Fighting should not be done in public or not.
I could go on, but I just don’t want to.
You get an F for this you totally missed the mark. List doesn’t match heading well. Try again.

People who don’t have kids really shouldn’t be giving advice on how to raise them. I don’t cuss my kids in public but they will get told and I dare someone to tell me I’m doing something wrong, my discipline of my kids will keep them from disciplining you

  • Nunya

ROFL!!!! WHEW JESUS!!! LOOK AT NICKI MINAJ GNAWING ON THAT DRUMSTICK! LMBO!!!! LORD JESUS HELP HER!!! LOL! SHE A GOOFY HOT MESS!!! LMBO!!!!

How about being rude, ignorant, brash, loud, unclean, unkept and every other word in your vocabulary is f-this and f-that! Its time to grow your language, give up the ghetto ways – 21 days and it becomes a habit!

  • FMRG

How is smelling like weed “ig’nant”? If you’re burning some loud, that smell is not coming out.

I hope Bossip give up this antiquated system of making us click through all these pages just to read an article.

Seems to be a trend here where authors with no kids seem to pass judgement and attempt to chastise parents who try to discipline their children. There also seems to be an emphasis on the fact that it is done publicly, suggesting that it is ok to do so at home. Here’s a suggestion, write and article educating parents on ways to raise kids without yelling, cursing or spanking. Use your voice to offer solutions. Maybe interview and expert or two actually do some research and show how those negative behaviors hurt the kids. Anybody can give their opinion. We get it you have an opinion. Now instead of just letting us know how you feel and getting paid for it, I challenge you to go a step further and write an informed article with depth and range!

Fool who wrote this is so guiltily ridden with the thoughts of what he or she  thinks white people may think about them that they just figured telln everybody else not to eat chicken in any public vicinity was normal and not ignant lol

I really regret wasting my time scrolling through this garbage. This sounded like a funny article.. I figure it would have more than just some stereotypical humor.

It probably took this guy 20 seconds to come up with this crap. There was no real attempt to say anything that would make you at least mildly think about it.

This is like the difference between white comedy and black comedy.. Seriously this was awful.. put a little more time into your articles going forward. From where I stand.. you seem like kind of the “IGNANT” one yourself.

Can MN watch the grammatical errors? Too vs. Two. Also, eating fried chicken in public is not ignorant. That’s the only thing on this list I take issue with. If I am in a place where it’s okay to eat (like a park) and I feel like eating fried chicken, then I’ll eat it.

    • sweettea

I understand on the bus your not supposed to eat on the bus but why not eat whatever you want in places where eating is allowed o_0

  • RedButterfly81

Hey I stopped smoking and gave up sweets for Lent, but I do agree with you on numbers 2, 3, and 6, I see that ignorant ish everyday!

  • Smacks_hoes

I see you guys still haven’t learned the art of putting list of things on 1 or 2 pages as opposed to 6+ pages.

    • Chanellechristle

For real! I love the site but dang….one page lists please!

    • Erica

i hear you! how about Madame Noir giving up these excess pages for Lent?!

  • tiffanysince1987

I’m letting go of all dysfunctional relations indefinitely! NO LONGER WILL I ENTERTAIN ANYONE’S TRIFILIN/IGNORANT WAYS! yay me

  • Octobermom

You left out one important one. Cutting a fool in the workplace

  • NSimonefan

I’ll also add for ignorant people when teaching your children manners and respecting others:
    1) Don’t say rude things about people to your child or in front of your child.
    2) Don’t stand by as a silent witness and not correct your child when he or she says something rude to someone.
    3) Don’t cosign and laugh at your child’s rude comments about someone.
Not only are these behaviors indicative of someone who has no home training, it is a recipe for your child being a bully, getting their butt kicked, or someone busting a cap in their you-no-what!

For Lent I’m giving up both my sugar daddies, HSN and QVC and my side dude TeamBeachbody.

this article hit it on the head….its so true, so sad

  • F3ral Anarchy

-being loud and obnoxious on public transportation, using the N word in public, allowing your children to run loose in public

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HB2EZDGOE26ZXUUUH666QOL2ZQ Lola

Yes, being loud and obnoxious ANYWHERE should be given up permanently.

    • Nina Dashotta

I agree with the N word. I’m trying to get my husband out of that. We talk to each other like homeboys…literally “dawg” and “Brah” LOL although we have been doing that for 8 years, I just cringe when he goes in with the N word.

-calling your friends b***h or ho. It’s time we guarded our tongues and said uplifting things to the people we love. : )

  • L-Boogie

I am not Catholic and these behaviors do not apply to me.

    • Cha-Cha

What do these behaviors have to do with being Catholic?

      • L-Boogie

I am not downing Catholics or Catholicism. If it came off that way I apologize.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSapphireEmpress96?feature=mhee A.J.

It’s not just a Catholic thing.  Protestants can and do celebrate Lent as well.  None of the behaviors listed apply to me either, but I hear where the article’s coming from.  I think we all know someone who needs to cut some of these out.

No thanks
