Tests We All Put A New Man Through (Or Should)

Raise your hand if you’ve accidentally fallen for the wrong man. Plenty of us have been involved with guys who said they were good men, but really, just pretended to be. And while there are some good catches out there, sometimes certain “good” men just aren’t good for you.
Thankfully, some red flags are easy to spot in the beginning if you know where to look. One good way to find them? Put a man through a few tests before you decide to let your guard down and let him in.
These are the signs I would recommend looking out for when meeting someone new. Do you have your own quizzes to put him through before you call him your boo? Share them with us in the comment section so we can all put our antennas up before we get in too deep.
The Shoe Test
Long before the first date, check out a man’s shoes to find out what you need to know about the way he carries himself.
The Friend Test
Birds of a feather flock together. Not only is meeting friends a sign that things are getting serious, but they can also tell you a lot about a guy that he might not even realize about himself.
The Mom Test
Introducing him to your mom is a big deal, and it’s better to do so sooner than later. Because if mom senses that something is not right, most likely it isn’t.
The Flirt Test
We all have a friend (or frenemy) known to be overly flirtatious with the opposite sex. Seeing whether or not he flirts back is not a test I’m proud to recommend, but one that works.
The Home Inspection
Because you never really know a man until you see how he lives.
The Kids Test
Let the “Do you have kids?” question slide for a couple of dates, and you might be surprised. A man who doesn’t bring up his kids may not have an important role in their lives. And that can say a lot about him.
Also, if he doesn’t have kids and you want to have quite a few, pay attention to how he is with kids.
The Call Quiz
Will he wait three days because he doesn’t want to seem too into you, call right away, or wait so long to hit you up that you’ve basically forgotten who he is?
The Kissing Test
I know dating etiquette says you’re supposed to wait a date or so before you lock lips with a man. But this is such a big deal breaker that sometimes its better to get this test out of the way before serious feelings get involved and you find out he can’t kiss.
The Vacation Quiz
Does he catch major attitude when he’s under stress? Will he help with the planning or leave it all up to you? How does he feel about spending when it comes entertainment?
Going on vacation with someone tells you so much about them that it’s a great idea to tick this test off of the list with a quick getaway.
The Likes Test
This one is so important, it’s number one on the agenda of first dates. You don’t have to have all of the same music and movie likes in common. But if he loves classical and trap music is your thing, or he’s a homebody and your passport is full of stamps, it could be a compatibility issue.
The Illness Exam
You can’t plan a sickness, but the way he reacts when you’re under the weather and looking anything but your best tells you a lot about how caring of a partner he will be.
The Waitress Test
This is another first date necessity. The way a man treats a waitress or waiter can tell you a lot about the good (or bad) parts of his personality. A man that’s rude to one will probably act a fool with you soon enough.
How He Plays the Game
Whether it’s basketball or video games, it’s important to see how a man plays. Does he let you win to make you feel good? Get really ugly when he loses? There are some things you can only tell about a man in the heat of the moment.
The Living Together Test
I’ll put this question up to you: Is it better to know what it’s like to live with a man before you get married? Or is cohabitation for newly wedded couples only?
The Bed Test
Do you make sure to take him on a test drive before feelings are involved? Or wait until things get serious to share the bed with him?
