Mike Epps isn’t the only one who has been caught with his hand in the direct message cookie jar. These celebrities have also been caught using social media to try and hook up with people. Have you ever received a celebrity DM?
James Franco
The 36-year-old actor recently made himself Instagram famous when a 17-year-old girl released the direct messages he sent her. But Franco said he didn’t know her age at the time and “Like anybody, I was just trying to meet somebody. It’s just that my dirty s–t gets put out internationally.”
AnnaLynne McCord
Actress AnnaLynne McCord tried to send an image of herself to a fan through direct message. Unfortunately, she didn’t realize that she tweeted the picture to her thousands of followers, and in it, her nipple was exposed.
Swizz Beatz
When you’re a celebrity, any DM action can get you in big trouble. And that’s what happened to Swizz Beatz when he liked several pictures of an Instagram fitness model and told her to “check her DMs.”
But just when the rumor mill was getting out of control, Swizz posted the full DM chat to let fans know he was just trying to get the woman to train his wife.
Drake
Drake accidentally exposed his social media activity when he accidentally posted this message to a model instead of “DM’ing” it. In his defense, the model, Cocaine Lorraine, said the rapper was honestly just trying to hit her up about business. Not pleasure.
Marc Jacobs
Celebrities should really be careful before hitting send. Designer Marc Jacobs made quite the embarrassing mistake when he posted a nude photo to his Instagram feed instead of in his hookup’s inbox.
J.R. Smith
“You trying to get the pipe?” became one of the great sayings of 2013 when one basketball fan posted this private message from the New York Knick, and it ended up going viral.
Mike Epps
When Mike Epps’ wife caught him “DM’ing” a fan, he immediately took to Twitter to blame his nephew for the attempted hookup. Twitter responded with the hilarious #MikeEppsExcuses.
Anthony Weiner
Politicians are no strangers to scandals, and Anthony Weiner joined a long list of disgraced government officials when his inappropriate social media messages were leaked to the public.
But even though the first scandal cost him his career, the shamed Democrat managed to get caught in another DM scandal when trying to make his political comeback.
Slim Thug
When you’re a celebrity, “DM’ing” a fan can be dangerous business, but it’s even more hazardous when two stars are involved, and one isn’t feeling the other. Enter rapper Slim Thug exposing messages sent to him by video vixen Kat Stacks.
Drake Bell
Drake & Josh star Drake Bell shattered his squeaky-clean image when he was caught “DM’ing” a Twitter user to arrange a threesome.
Jaleel White
Speaking of squeaky-clean images, former Family Matters star Jaleel White put a smudge on his when he asked a 17-year-old to “bend over” in a questionable DM.
Marcus Jordan
Michael Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan brought unwanted attention to the family name when he used Twitter to DM porn star Rachel Roxxx for “round 2.” After the DMs were exposed, Jordan claimed that someone was pulling a “prank” on him and sent the messages from his account.

Darnell Dockett
The 49ers defensive end overstepped his Twitter bounds when he tried to invite AJ McCarron’s then-girlfriend (now wife) Katherine Webb out to dinner via DM — but accidentally posted it on his Twitter feed.
Webb never replied, but luckily McCarron was a good sport about it and he and Dockett were able to laugh it off.
Casper Smart
Was Casper Smart’s DM activity the reason for his initial split from Jennifer Lopez? That’s what many fans suspected when a model named Sofie Vissa Instagrammed explicit messages she swapped with the choreographer very close to Lopez and Smart’s split announcement.
Jose Canseco
If you’re going to sneak DM a fan, it’s probably best not to insult them. Baseball player Jose Canseco found this out the hard way. He hit on Twitter user Jamila Marie — then tried to take it all back after he really got a glimpse of what she looked like: “I made a huge mistake.”
Marie then blasted their exchange all over social media.
