And so it begins! Tonight we saw part one of the reunion, as the ladies came to throw shade in their crispest white attire and biggest wigs (hey, Cynthia). It was like a c-list version of Solange’s wedding up in there! And yes, Kenya Moore was hoping to be the Beyoncé of that event, as she wore a gown similar to the Michael Costello dress Bey wore to the Grammys last year.
But while the women looked great, it was drama as usual. Let’s chat about NeNe and Kandi’s issues, Claudia’s obsession with NeNe and Porsha, and why Kenya isn’t going to get the apology she’s been pining for.
On This Season’s Hits And Misses When It Comes To Wigs
Can we first talk about that hilarious Real Housewives Wig Collection? Season seven has truly brought out the most interesting wigs yet, including NeNe’s two ill-received hairstyles: The Bride of Frankenstein and the mop with bangs she wore with the wrong bright pink lipstick (and matching shirt) earlier this season. Good to know that she can laugh about it now!
As it turns out, folks on social media aren’t so crazy about Cynthia’s reunion wig, comparing it the cowardly lion’s curls. Well, it’s only right to end the season with the biggest and bountiful hair a sista can find…
Bravo
Why Claudia Always Seemed So Worried About What NeNe Was Doing
I know I’m not the only one who needed some answers from Claudia. I was hoping she could explain why she thought Phaedra’s Saving Our Son’s event was the right place to try and pick a fight with NeNe. According to her, she picked that inappropriate time because “I have to take my moments when I see her because they’re so few and far between.”
Again, Claudia seems like a sweet girl, and she’s a beautiful one, but ooooh child…the whole faux Iyanla act is tired. Not everyone has to get along, and you can’t force them to. Get it? Got it? Mkay.
Bravo
On Kandi Being A So-Called Hater
It finally came out (we already knew though) that the cast member NeNe referred to as a hater on Twitter before the reunion was Kandi Burruss. So with that made clear, it was time for these two RHOA veterans to go at it. In an attempt to come off like the victim, NeNe asked Kandi, “I just want to know why you hate me.” And you know Kandi Kane wasn’t having it, responding with, “If I’m a hater, I’m just hating on someone who’s a hater.” She followed up and said that the only thing she hates is NeNe’s obsession with talking down to the ladies in the group.
“When you say I hate you it sounds like you’re waiting for a pity party to come out. I don’t hate you. I hate your superior complex.”
The Truth Behind NeNe And Phaedra’s Friendship
But another thing Kandi clearly does hate is NeNe and Phaedra’s blossoming friendship. She said that based on NeNe’s previous actions, specifically with former friends Cynthia and Kim Zolciak (NeNe and Kim are back on good terms by the way), NeNe can be a backstabber. With that in mind, Kandi didn’t appreciate Phaedra talking to Ms. “I’m Rich Bitch” about her. But NeNe says she never talked to Phaedra about Kandi. Instead, the pair supported one another as Phaedra’s marriage fell apart because that’s something painful that NeNe went through with Gregg in the past. Kandi hadn’t dealt with that so she couldn’t relate. According to NeNe, what she should have done was pick up a phone and reach out to her so-called BFF during her time of need instead of being worried about what others are up to.
Where Phaedra’s Marriage Stands And If Apollo Was Abusive
After a season of watching Apollo prepare to check into prison and then break out (aka, stall to check in) to harass Phaedra, and then watching Phaedra seek her divorce counsel, you’ll be surprised to know that the pair are still married. Why? Because Phaedra isn’t ready to make that major decision just yet.
“I’m still married. I have not filed…This is a life-changing decision and I have to make sure my children are okay.”
But when Andy tried to get some answers from Phae Phae about whether or not Apollo had been abusive in the past based on his behavior before he turned himself in, she kept that information to herself.
“I just don’t know if I need to discuss that with you to be honest.”
Bravo
Claudia And Porsha Try To Figure Out Who’s Really About That Life
We talked to Claudia earlier this season about NeNe Leakes trying to slut shame her in Puerto Rico, but she flipped the script and decided to dish out her own dose of slut-shaming Porsha’s way. If you’ll recall, Claudia tried to claim that the Rolls Royce and all the fancy bags Porsha had came from a married man she was creeping with. The two fell out about that (and they already had bad blood after bumping heads at their place of work), but managed to make up for five seconds after therapy. So where do things stand now?
Andy: What’s your relationship with Claudia now?
Porsha: Are we talking about Claudia’s storyline now?
Ouch! According to Porsha, Claudia is pressed about what she’s doing and who she’s sleeping with because she doesn’t have anything going on aside from bumpy toes and stand-up comedy. But that’s not the case according to Claudia, who says, “I’m not begging to be friends with anyone, it’s just for a peaceful work environment.”
Bravo
Why Kenya Won’t Receive An Apology From Porsha
Andy put Porsha on blast and asked her why she didn’t apologize for attacking Kenya last reunion when Kenya apologized for the part she played in their fight. In response, Porsha made it clear that Kenya would NEVER get anything close to an “I’m sorry” from her because she’s not genuine and hasn’t earned one:
“I will not apologize to Kenya. She does not deserve an apology from me at all.”
How Porsha’s Grandfather And Kenya’s Mother Found Their Way In The Conversation
No apology? That wasn’t a shocker; but what was, was the fact that somehow, Porsha’s late grandfather and Kenya’s estranged mother became scapegoats for their poor behavior. According to Kenya, it’s quite sad the granddaughter of Hosea Williams, a champion of non-violence, would attack her and then proudly proclaim that she will never apologize. But Porsha also made an interesting point, claiming that because Kenya doesn’t have a relationship with her mom she is a hurt woman and went out of her way to try and hurt other people last season. In her mind, Kenya needs help–not an apology.
What do you think?
Kenya And Phaedra Settle This “Whore” Business
Not impressed with Kenya’s choice to bring up Porsha’s grandfather and Selma as a way to criticize her, Phaedra pointed out that Kenya hasn’t been a great role model her damn self. That opened up the door for her to call Kenya a whore again when asked about their past issues: “There’s plenty of whores in the Bible, so you’re in good company, baby…”
But according to Kenya, she’s not a whore, never been one and never will be one. In fact, if she were one, she would be the “best got damn whore” the world had ever seen, and she would live in her truth, something she says Phaedra never has done. Unusual comeback for such an ugly label, but hey, whatever gets the point across I guess…
