You might complain that he doesn’t appreciate you enough, but do you appreciate him enough? There are probably some things you don’t realize your man does only to make you happy, but that secretly make him cringe!
He goes out of his way to see you when he knows he’s not getting any
He knows you’re on your period, or you’re just going to be asleep when he gets there, and even though he has to get up in five hours, he drives across town to see you when he knows he isn’t getting any and he’s probably not even going to get much sleep.
He gives you practical gifts
He gives you a tool box or a drying rack and you say it’s not “thoughtful” but in fact, it’s the most thoughtful present he could have given you. It meant that he thought about your day-to-day activities and how he could make them run smoother.
He lets you set up his friends
He doesn’t know how this will go, and it could easily reflect poorly on him if his friend dates your friend and doesn’t like her. But he lets you set up his friends, because he knows it makes you happy.
He lets you go crazy with the PDA
Don’t get me wrong: he wants to touch you. But when you’re hanging all over him in public, it can make him look whipped. And the fact that he doesn’t mind looking that way, says a lot.
He lets you talk about how hot a celebrity is
You can go on and on about how sexy you think a certain male celebrity is, and he doesn’t interrupt you. Not for a second. You do realize that he is fighting his animal instincts to go into jealousy mode, just so you can have your fun, right?
He asks about your friend’s drama
Do you really think he’s curious about whether or not your friend and her ex got back together? He’s not. But he knows it shows you that he cares about your life and your friends when he asks. So he endures the 30-minute story that comes with asking, just for you.
He keeps the house quiet so you can sleep
You may not realize that the reason you were able to sleep at his place until noon was because he asked his roommates to take their shoes off so their stomping wouldn’t wake you up, and held off on making his protein shake so the blender wouldn’t startle you, and watched the TV on mute with captions.
He eats at a vegan restaurant with you
It might be the only night he even has to go out to a restaurant, and he goes to one he knows he won’t enjoy (or at least not compared to his actual favorites) just to make you happy. And he is even paying for that Tempeh steak.
He brings you to what was obviously a guy’s night
Have you ever looked around during drinks at one of your guy’s friend’s places and realized you’re the only girl? Even if he told you it wasn’t a guy’s night—yes it was. He just wanted you to feel included. And you can guarantee he’ll get grief from his friends about it.
He texts/calls you when at work
That might have been the only twenty minutes he had to go grab a sandwich, or even just take a walk and clear his head, but instead he spent it talking to you.
He lets you post all the couples photos you want
No guy likes a dozen photos of himself and his girlfriend kissing in a photo booth or on a Ferris Wheel or on the beach, posted onto social media platforms. So if your guy stays silent about it, it’s just because he knows how much joy you get out of doing it.
He wears your pink robe/uses your sparkly lotion/uses your rose-scented shampoo
All so that he can spontaneously stop by your place and spend the night with you unplanned, he uses your sparkly hand lotion and rose-scented shampoo the next day because he didn’t bring his toiletries.
He keeps healthy food in the fridge
Do you think he just suddenly got really into carrots and hummus when you two got together? Think again.
He lets his friends tease his romanticism
You better believe it that any time your guy does something like leave roses on your car or surprise you at work with cupcakes, his friends tease him for days about it. But he endures it because it’s the price he pays for making you smile.
