Don’t make excuses
If you can’t talk about one of your friends without using the words “but” or “its because of,” then you’re not doing anyone a favor. If your friend has an odd sense of humor, there’s no need to tell your friend that. Or if your friend can be overly chatty, there’s no need to talk about it. The whole part of being a matchmaker is setting two people up and letting them learn about and understand each other.
