Tia Mowry-Hardrict Strolls Down Relationship Memory Lane And Gives Advice On Keeping Romance Alive

“Last Saturday, Cory and I celebrated our fifth year together as husband and wife.  The Saturday before that, we renewed our vows.  Some people asked us why we decided to renew our vows “so soon”, when most people wait until much farther into their marriage to do so.  Well, even though Cory and I have only been married for five years, we’ve actually been together for thirteen! It’s hard to believe I met my amazing husband 14 years ago.  There’s been good times and challenges, but in the end, I am blessed and beyond blissful to get to spend the rest of my life with such a kind and Godly man.

I was looking through old photo albums the other day, and came across all these old pictures of Cory and me from our dating days.  They’re pretty funny, and I wanted to share them with all my amazing blog followers! Looking through them, I was also reminded of how exactly we’ve made our relationship “work” over the years and how we’ve managed to keep the romance alive, even though we’ve been together for over a decade.  I know a lot of you have asked me for tips on this topic, so here a couple I wanted to share with you:

Go on unique dates: After a husband and wife (or even girlfriend and boyfriend) have been together for awhile, dates sort of fade into the background – after all, dates are what you do when you are getting to know each other in the beginning of the relationship, right? Wrong! It’s so important that couples still go on dates, no matter how long they’ve been together. It gives you guys quality alone time to really just focus on each other. If the standard “dinner and a movie” starts feeling routine, start thinking of unique dates to go on with each other. Crazy, adrenaline-rushing activities are so much fun to do with your significant other, but even a low key hike through a trail you’ve never been to before can get you out of a relationship rut.”
