Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Season 1, Episode 2
Bravo
REAL Real Housewives
The newest addition to the Real Housewives franchise is set in Beverly Hills. Two things set this group of ladies apart from the other casts. For one thing, most of them are real, actual true-blue housewives. They don’t do much, but shop, indulge in pet projects and just generally consume luxury. Secondly, they have that long dough. They have REAL money. I’m not talking about having a little money left over to buy a Birkin and some Louboutins once in a while, I’m talking about flying in private jets and having nannies that outnumber the children. This is real money, honey.
In this episode, we see Paris Hilton’s aunts going at eachother the whole time. Kyle, the one who kinda looks like Demi Moore, is trying to get her sister Kim to loosen her grip on her practically grown kids and let them have lives. Kyle and Kim’s relationship is really volatile. Mostly because Kim is clearly a little off and Kyle seems to take joy in pointing that out.
Adrienne, who is the sister of the Maloof brothers and wife to Dr. 90210 plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif, does a photoshoot for some random a$$ magazine with a GORGEOUS little chocolate something. Her hubby seems a tad jealous, but I’m not sure if that was genuine. She also meets up with Brody Jenner’s mom and it is kind of a freaky moment to look at the both of them with all the plastic they have pumped into their faces. It’s like the LA alien look.
Camille, (now ex) wife of Kelsey Grammer, keeps yammering on about needing to make a name for herself outside of her husband. She will get that opportunity very soon. Today, Kelsey has already moved on to a new (younger) girlfriend.
This cast is pretty interesting. Looking forward to seeing how the series progresses and how many ways they can find to spend their husbands’ money.

Real Housewives of DC
Season 1, Reunion Part Two
Bravo
See ya!
I can sum up the reunion in four words: The Salahis are crazy.
But seriously though, it was kind of scary to watch the Salahis tap dance around basic questions. Yes or no questions about if they own a home or if they had tickets to certain events were just not answered. Anything going on in the lives of the other housewives’ lives seems pretty inconsequential when juxtaposed with the Salahis’ whole ‘nother level of insanity. We watch these shows for the drama and the Salahis definitely bring that, but it’s a not-fun, depressing kind of drama.
Glad that the cast is done and doner. I don’t expect to see them back next season.

Divas, Babies and Puppies
Kim needs to sit down somewhere. She really thinks she is a pop star. Kandi (who seems the most down to earth person on the show) is a little too patient when it comes to Kim’s antics. Kim should be thanking every star in the sky that Kandi didn’t charge her for “Tardy for the Party” AND agreed to be her hypewoman for her big performance.
Phaedra. Hmmmm. She seems like one of those women is dramatic just for the sake of being dramatic. I hope that the conversations she has with her husband Apollo on the show are just for the cameras because her attitude would get real tiresome real quick in real life. I understand that everyone has different opinions about child-rearing–and really to each her own—but does she actually plan on assaulting her kid if he says something wrong? Geesh. Apollo seems to have very reasonable parenting ideas, which she dismisses as jibber jabber that is a result of being raised by a white parent. Ummm, ok.
Sheree’s 24-year-old daughter is beautiful and seems very grounded and intelligent. She is a pleasant surprise. Not sure yet why Cynthia is on the show. Did they add her in later or something? She doesn’t get a lot of face-time in the show. Nene putting the diaper on the dog? Gross. Putting a diaper on a dog means having to wipe a dog, which is well, gross.
Next week, we see Phaedra’s wedding and get a peek at Nene’s lipo, nose job and boob lift procedures. What do you think of her new nose? Is it better or worse than her original nose?

Detroit, Stand Up
I’m really digging “Detroit 187” now. It had kind of a rocky start, which is to be expected of any show really and especially one that switched from documentary style to more of a straight narrative style after scenes were show.
Through a storyline about a murdered girl at Lt Mason’s daughter’s school, we see more of Det Fitch’s unorthodox approach to police work and his creepy/school-boy crush on Det Sanchez. I kinda hope they don’t get together. I would much MUCH rather see Det Stone’s needs-to-be-a-model behind in some amorous scenes.
James McDaniel is a great actor, but for some reason, I don’t really connect with Det Longford. Do you? I don’t know if it’s because he’s too straight edged and perfect-like or if we just don’t see enough of him, but that character rarely adds much to the storylines. Det Mahajan is a pretty funny dude, so I like to see him. The Greektown murder storyline in this episode is kinda interesting though. I like the Johnnie Cochran-esque lawyer and the unexpected turn of events with the restaurants owner.
In general though, I think the show would benefit from having one case per episode. I think I’d like to really dig into one storyline a little deeper as opposed to having two storylines wrapped up with a bow.
Oh and because I didn’t do a TV Rundown last week, I must mention how much I LOVED seeing JD Williams (aka Bodie on “The Wire”) on the show. Keep up the cameos!
Do you think the show is getting better? What adjustments do you think they should make if they get a second season?
