One of the most beautiful gifts of life is the ability to dream. Neuroscientists and researchers across the board have postulated that we all spend at least two hours a night dreaming. Our dreams can be bad in the sense of “nightmares,” or they can be extremely good and positive. Oftentimes, some individuals are able to remember their dreams and are able to actually implement their vision and to bring them to fruition. What’s the secret for these individuals? With the outstanding enigma that continues to remain with dreams, researchers still have not been able to fully understand them and to completely decipher how we are able to dream.
In lieu of engaging into discourse on intricate neuroscience, I would rather focus on the optimistic and value-adding perspective of our dreams, particularly when they are positive. I believe that we can “get higher” and move closer to our dreams, as Goapele beautifully vocalized in her peaceful classic. And, here are at least five ways to accomplish these tasks:
See them and feel them. Oftentimes, our subconscious mind helps us to see what we really believe. When our conscious mind tells us “we can’t,” our subconscious can sometimes let us know that “we can” via our dreams. And, it essential to not only see ourselves doing better or becoming more progressive in our daily walk but also to feel it in our inner being.

Write down your dreams. In many cases, researches have indicated that most individuals simply cannot remember every dream. But, there are some dreams that are truly unforgettable. For these respective dreams, it would prove beneficial to write them down and to break them into small steps. For instance, if you had a memorable dream where you saw yourself in a new home or new career or in state of better health, it would be valuable to write down the vision and record steps on how you plan to achieve it.
Let go of your inhibitions. Inhibitions, such as fear and cynicism, can always prove to be major barriers to implementing our dream. Some individuals are just afraid to move forward on their vision, while others just don’t believe that their vision is worthy of implementation. If we can remove such barriers from the slums of our minds, we can stretch our arms out wide and move forward with true freedom.
Speak your dreams with expectancy. Oftentimes, most of us find ourselves speaking all of the negative things that are occurring in our lives. And, we spend little time actually speaking about our visions and dreams. Our words have a lot of creative power, thus it is imperative that we speak out our visions. Many people across the world can attest to enunciating their visions and dreams and actually seeing them come to fruition.
Surround yourself with other dreamers. It is highly recommended that you surround yourself with optimistic and positive people that you can truly share your dreams with. In some cases, people do not move forward with their dreams or visions because of subtle or overt discouragement from others. Please don’t let others defer your dreams.
