From 2018 to 2023, Jada Pinkett Smith gave the world more than a peak inside her world of thoughts while going into deep discussions with celebrity guest and her own family about topics like mental health, drug usage, and marriage. The latter was one everybody was interested in Pinkett-Smith addressing because for years, the lingering rumor has been that she and her Oscar award-winning husband Will Smith were swingers and had an open marriage. While on a press tour for her 2023 book Worth the mother-of-two revealed that none of that was true.

But around 2016, the Smiths had reached a point in their marriage where they had decided to separate and essentially “broke up” without telling the public. Pinkett-Smith explained in 2020 on her show Red Table Talk that she then infamously got into an “entanglement,” or as the “Men In Black” star corrected, “a relationship” with R&B singer August Alsina – which the artist revealed first in his 2020 interview with Angela Yee.

In the interview Alsina says, “I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”

Speaking to her husband about the “entanglement” Pinkett-Smith said she was able to “confront a lot emotional immaturity” and “do some really deep healing.” The Girls Trip star said when she came through her healing and came to realize some things about her relationship with will, Alsina decided to cut all communication with Pinkett-Smith.
