Woody and Amani

It’s still early in the “Married At First Sight” game. The couples are still in celebratory wedding, honeymoon mode. The real world hasn’t set in yet, so it’s no telling what the future may hold. Still, there are some things we’ve noticed now that couples have met and chatted with their spouse’s family members and have reached the Mexico, the destination of their honeymoon.

The Awkwardness

I don’t know if it’s the editing or a genuine disconnect between the two. But it is almost painful to watch Henry and Christina struggle to converse with one another. Initially, I thought it was just him. And arguably, he is probably the most to blame with his short, often one-word answers. But Christina doesn’t seem to be much of a conversationalist herself. But perhaps they’re both okay with this level of communication because neither one of them seems to be complaining just yet.

Amelia and Bennett…

…are the same person. From the wacky pajamas to the same style of glasses. I was half expecting them to share the same prescription. These two are in sync. I’m rooting for them. So much so, that I’d be genuinely surprised if they didn’t stay together in the end. The vibe is strong. But I am worried about her having to travel for work will affect their relationship.

Miles…

…is still the sweetest. And I know that because Karen was not wit it. But you can slowly see her opening up to him and I know that’s because he’s been showing her some good things. When homeboy started massaging her feet at the bottom of the bed, I was smitten. I hope Miles remains this consistent and Karen stays open to him and the process.

The smacking

Woody knew better…or did he? Lol either way, I’m happy to see that Amani has no problems with speaking her mind to her new man. Good or bad, she’s going to let him know how she’s feeling. And that goes a long way—especially with a stranger.

Miles and Karen’s mom

We know from the first couple of episodes that Karen’s mom was not in support of her daughter marrying a stranger. But thankfully, after spending just a little bit of time around Miles she seems to see something good in him. I thought it was really sweet of her to tell him that at brunch.

Brett’s brothers

From the way they were acting on the wedding day and during the reception, I was convinced that Brett’s brothers were going to continue that ribbing and jabbing with Olivia when they met her for brunch. Thankfully, they went easy on her and made her feel very welcome.

Woody’s temper

The discussion about Woody’s temper, particularly the reference to the devil was alarming, to say the least. And again, to Amani’s credit she addressed it right away with Woody instead of holding it inside, waiting for it to rear it’s ugly head.

Hopefully, the counseling Woody says he received for it has paid off. Time will tell.

Woody at the brunch

The verdict for me on Woody is still out.  But I can say from what we saw of him during the brunch, he didn’t come off so great. He was honest about his past infidelity. But I also noticed, he started talking a bit faster than usual and he seemed to stop making eye contact. I hope the fun-loving, jovial persona he is projecting is real.

Chastity belt

Whatever Woody is doing, it seems to be working for Amani though. She likes that he journals (which is a huge plus.) And she didn’t have a problem telling him…and then Woody told us, excitedly. They could work. We’ll see what happens.
