In the middle of Solange’s career, after she’d clearly established herself as an entirely different artist than her older sister Beyoncé, folks in an attempt to show loyalty toward her and likely be messy, they claimed that she was better than her sister. There was the assumption that to like one, you had to diss the other. But Solange had to come forward and let y’all know, she’s not here for that sh*t.

Nearly ten years ago, she tweeted:

Dont try 2 luv ME cuz u want 2 be the antiBeyonce. Im the all 4Beyonce.Now kiss both our Knowles asses if u dont like it!

The tweet was a moment in time, chile. People still have their preferences but since then, I don’t see or hear too many people attempting to pit two sisters against one another in that way.

I get the sense that Solange is not out here trying to prove anything to us. She knows what her relationship is with her sister. What she was doing was sharing some of her joy. In a series of videos, Solange is seen dancing, posing and singing various songs, including her own “Sweetner.” But one of them just so happened to be Beyoncé’s “Kitty Kat.” I know some of y’all don’t know. But for those that do, it’s an iconic jam. And Solange gave us the visual and mood it deserves.

Check it out in the video below.

It’s a brief clip but one that left an impression on folks. See what they had to say about it on the following pages.
