Will and Jasmine

Source: Lifetime / lifetime

Ever since they said “I do” at the beginning of Season 8 of Married at First Sight, people have been saying that they don’t think Will Guess is attracted to Jasmine McGriff. I didn’t believe it because the chemistry was there on their wedding day. But as of last night’s episode, with only one week until decision day, it definitely feels as though Will is growing more distant both sexually and emotionally when it comes to Jasmine.

At the beginning of the episode, Jasmine was hopeful that Will would “flip her switch” after she made him his favorite meal, all while wearing some revealing lingerie. And she also attempted to engage him in the way that he likes, which is to have an intellectual conversation. The chat centered around Will’s dating past in the hopes that it would stimulate him. But when it was time to clear the table and hit the bedroom, Jasmine decided to do a homework assignment at the last minute that required the pair to kiss for one whole minute. Damn was it awkward!

It wasn’t a sexy kiss at all. It never advanced into a French kiss, and the two didn’t even really touch (she did grab his face a little) or rub on one another. It felt solely like homework, which is probably why when Will was asked what he thought about the kiss, he was brutally honest. “I thought it was a bit awkward…If we were just sitting here talking first and you know, organically kind of kissed, it has to be tied to something for me. The energy wasn’t there.”

Jasmine wasn’t happy with his response, and said in her confessional that she feels Will is using “emotional stimulation as a crutch.” I would agree that he likely is — because he no longer is really attracted to her. But I don’t think it has to do with the physical.

I like Jasmine, and I like Will, but together, they’re just not working because they value completely different things. Truth be told, many of the conversations that the pair have had that were supposed to be intellectually stimulating haven’t ended well because they’ve circled back around to concerns about money and the future on her part. We also have a feeling that he is over it because when he told her his dream of coaching kids in basketball, she told him that wouldn’t make any money, which he was clearly offended by. Yep, nothing builds attraction like telling someone their dreams ain’t sh-t.

It would be nice if he would just tell her straight up where the emotional block is for him after six weeks of marriage, as opposed to always overanalyzing every interaction they have, and worse, responding to her rejection of the things he values by rejecting her sexually.

Will is likely trying to wait until the very last second before he decides whether or not he wants to stay in the marriage, half in to try and build the connection and half out (he did say he’s “50/50” about the decision he’ll make when talking to the guys). But the fact that after six weeks the kissing is awkward and the sex isn’t happening (while trifling Luke and sweet Kate are sleeping together with all their issues) doesn’t bode well for them and the possibility of a future together.

Hit the flip to check out what Twitter had to say about that awkward kiss and the couple’s lack of chemistry this close to decision day.
