Back in September, old-school Destiny’s Child fans were treated to a mini-reunion of sorts (there have actually been a few). LeToya Luckett-Walker linked up with former bandmate Beyoncé at the star’s On the Run II tour stop in Arlington. But what did the two actually talk about? According to a new interview the mom-to-be had with ESSENCE, the focus was on all things baby.
“That was such an awesome moment,” Luckett-Walker shared. “There was so much joy in that room. She was … she went into straight mommy mode as far like ‘Oh my god. What’s she doing? Is she doing this, is she doing that?’ And I was showing them my sonogram pictures and everything. She was just so excited. We’re both very, very happy, and you could feel the love in the room. There wasn’t a lot of people in the room. It felt like it was just us, chatting it up.”
Beyoncé isn’t the only friend offering up parental advice to Luckett-Walker. She said that her new T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle co-stars, Tiny, Toya Wright and Monica Brown, have also helped her out immensely.
“Monica, Toya and Tiny, they told me everything that I needed to use,” she said. “Everything … the right bottles, the right this, the right that, and Monica has been one that has most of the old school advice that still works for her, and I really like that. She’s like girl ‘All my kids stayed in four to six weeks, didn’t go outside, didn’t see the light of day because I wanted to bond with them and connect with them. And I would only leave to go to my doctor’s appointments because you really need that time with the baby.'”
But there’s only one godmother, and good friend Eudoxie Bridges is that. She’s been giving Luckett-Walker advice that is meant to keep her comfortable as she awaits her baby girl‘s arrival.
“Eudoxie is god mommy so she’s excited about that. She’s very protective already,” she said. “She’s always been the one to be like ‘You need to eat and stop worrying. Just elevate your feet, stop worrying about this stuff. It’s gonna be fine, you’ll figure it out.'”
As we previously shared, while these famous friends, including Bey, have offered support, it was another Destiny’s Child bandmate who was one of the first to know that Luckett-Walker was expecting: Kelly.
“Funny enough, Kelly was the first to know,” she said. “She called me and I was about to go on stage, well her and Ashley, who’s one of my great friends. We were all on FaceTime and Kelly jumped in the screen and she was like, ‘You pregnant ain’t ya?’ I had just found out. She was like, ‘It’s all over your face. You pregnant ain’t ya?’ I said, ‘I’m not going to answer that…I can’t lie to you so, yes.’ She was one of the first to know.”
Don’t you just love that they all get along so well after all of these years? Reminds us of the good old days. If you’d like to be reminded further of the early DC years (especially since Kelly claims they’re “good” on a reunion), check out this gallery of throwback photos of LeToya, LaTavia, Beyoncé and Kelly all together.
