Program Gives Youths a Jump on Their Careers
(Chicago Sun Times) — Fourteen-year-old Vanette West has dreamed of becoming a teacher since second grade, when she had “the best teacher in the world.”
This year, Vanette will turn teacher, giving “mini-lessons” to kindergartners and first-graders as a member of the state’s first Teacher Academy program for high school students.
