Don’t worry, I’m not here to show you any morbid images of Aretha Franklin in her casket…not her face anyway. Photos inside her funeral proceedings have been forbidden, but photo agencies managed to snap the above wide shot of Franklin’s outfit and her legs crossed inside her gold casket. I felt it pertinent to share this image with you because I know it personally brought me joy. Mostly because I can just imagine Aretha Franklin looking down at her body, pleased. The red from head to toe, culminating in crossed legs and ruby red shoes. Talk about going out in style.
Honestly, when I learned that Franklin was having an open casket service, I wondered why. But this makes perfect sense. She lived her life fly and she wanted y’all to see her as such during her final appearance. Amazing.
