If you’ve ever watched the E! show Total Divas, then you probably know of the Bella twins (Brie and Nikki). The latter dated fellow wrestler and actor John Cena for six years and they were engaged to be married last year. He popped the question in an epic and fitting way — in the middle of the ring at Wrestlemania. But sadly, it’s been announced that they’ve called off their engagement. And while it was a surprise that they were going to wed in the first place (especially since he said he didn’t want to be married again or have any kids), still, it’s a shock that they’re calling it quits altogether.

While I’m sure you’re probably thinking, “WHO?!” their split left me thinking about all the famous couples who had big, public engagements, only to end things quietly. And then I realized, there were even more couples whose engagements came and went that we just totally forgot about over the years. As a lover of lists, I thought I’d share.
