Selita Ebanks’ Reality Show Officially Announced By The Style Network
A couple of months ago we told you guys that supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Selita Ebanks was in the process of filming a new reality show for the Style Network. The network officially announced the docu-series when it released a list of nine unscripted programs that they are currently working on for their 2013-2014 developmental slate, reports Variety.
“We are excited to expand our programming slate by developing edgy, fun, informative series that are accessible and aspirational. By partnering with creative and talented producers, Style provides a unique, optimistic environment for our viewers who have an insatiable appetite for looking good and living stylishly,” said Style’s senior vp of programming and development, Sarah Weidman.
The network also says that the show will document Selita following her break-up with her E! News anchor ex-boyfriend Terrence J as she embarks on life after thirty. News of the hot Hollywood pair’s split leaked back in February. Freinds close to Ebanks say their super busy schedules is what ultimately caused them to call it quits. A brief description of the show found in a press release issued by Style reads:
“This docuseries follows supermodel Selita Ebanks as she embarks on a new chapter in her life at the age of 30. After her two-year relationship with TV personality Terrence J ends, Selita’s focus shifts to expanding her career beyond modeling to launching a clothing line.”
Selita (working title) is executive produced by 51 Minds with Chris Abrego, Ben Samek and Rabih Gholam.

Forever Just Doesn’t Last As Long As It Used To: Have Terrence J And Selita Ebanks Called It Quits?
Since November of 2011, E! News host, Terrence J and supermodel Selita Ebanks appeared to be a match made in Hollywood heaven, with their million dollar smiles and über sucessful careers. Unfortunately, it seems that those same demanding careers may have contributed to the couple’s demise, according to Page Six.
A source close to Ebanks revealed that the couple could no longer endure the strain that their busy schedules placed on the relationship and decided to split over what they called “scheduling conflicts.”
“Selita is just so busy,” the insider revealed.
In addition to her already demanding career, the model is also said to be in the process of working on a television pilot and releasing a single. I think it’s safe to assume that Selita is working on some type of reality show, but as for that single? Not so sure what that will entail.
Over the weekend, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel was spotted partying it up, celebrating her 30th birthday, as television cameras followed her around. Terrence was nowhere in sight.
“Selita was dancing on the banquette at her table and garnering glances from many in the room,” a partygoer revealed.
We also hear that during the course of her two-day birthday celebration, she was in the company of quite a few male admirers. Loverboy Trey Songz is said to have serenaded the supermodel over her birthday cake during a party at Bagatelle on Saturday. It seems that Selita has wasted no time taking advantage of her singleness, as Page Six also reports that there was plenty of flirting going on during her birthday dinner with attendee, David Spade.
We really liked Selita and Terrence as a couple, but we understand that they had to do what was best for them. Sometimes a choice really does have to be made between love and career.
What do you think of Terrence and Selita’s split? Did you dig them as a couple?

Selita Ebanks Is Over Showing Up In Her Panties And Hoping She’s Still Got It: Model Retires As Victoria’s Secret Angel
Did you know that even the big named Victoria’s Secret models have to audition for a spot in the annual VS Fashion Show each year? Neither did we, but that’s what popular lingerie model Selita Ebanks revealed to New York Magazine’s The Cut before announcing her unofficial retirement. She shared some not so pleasant aspects of the job with the fashion blog during the UNICEF Snowflake Ball, saying:
“You have to show up in your panties, and you have to walk and be pleasant and say hi to everyone and hope that you’ve still got it.
“I didn’t make it. Go figure,” she expressed laughing and noting that she didn’t intend on trying out again next year. “I’ve done, what, five, six shows? I’ve experienced my V.S. days.”
She has a point, she has done her share of shows, and moving on is not always a bad thing. Honestly, having to audition for the same show year after year does seem pretty draining.
The Victoria’s Secret Angel title is generally an annual gig where the models chosen strut in the annual fashion show, pose in the catalog, and attend V.S. promotional events throughout the year. While Selita’s retirement doesn’t look like it was a voluntary one, she does appear to be in good spirits and taking it really well unlike some divas who would throw public tantrums and talk about all they’ve done for XYZ company or even lie about being cut. The 29-year-old beauty seems to be thankful for having had the opportunity and graciously moving on, which is a lesson many in the fashion and entertainment industry have yet to master.
We’re excited to see what Selita will be working on next as we’re pretty sure the swimsuit designer won’t be sitting around on the couch twiddling her thumbs or spending all day hanging out poolside with her boyfriend Terrence J now that she’s turned in her angel wings. We shall see.
What do you think of Selita’s departure? Do you think it’s for good?

So Ambitious: Terrence J Wants To Be The Next Will Smith/Ryan Seacrest
Terrence is on his cool J after leaving BET’s “106 & Park.” After snagging a few movie roles and taking his hosting talents over to E!, Mr. Jenkins is feeling extra ambitious these days. In an interview with Ebony.com, the aspiring actor/media-mogul spelled out his ultimate career goal: to be a Will Smith-Ryan Seacrest hybrid. Check out a few snippets.
Why he took the E! gig right after the height of “Think Like a Man”
I think that Hollywood is this sort of hybrid now. You have incredible broadcasters like Oprah Winfrey who are now doing movies like The Butler. You have people that are building careers that don’t just have to fit in one lane. I want to be a trendsetter in that space. I look at a mentor of mine like Ryan Seacrest and the incredible amount of equity he’s been able to bring to the broadcasting arena, and the branding and the world that he’s been able to build around himself. I look at another mentor of mine, Will Smith – I call him the greatest actor alive right now – and I’m trying to merge the two. I have a long way to go, obviously. Those are some very big ambitions. But I’m shooting Think Like a Man 2 next year and I have two more film projects that’ll be coming out relatively soon. And I’ll be every day onE! News. Hopefully people just won’t get sick of me!
Why E! was a good move
They’re at the pulse of pop culture, and that’s where I’m at. I think that they’re excellent at what they do. They have a very great staff and amazing people that I get to work with. I think Giuliana Rancic is amazing, and they just get it. They’re a show on the rise and I’m happy to be a part of the program.
Whether he thinks America is starting to embrace diversity more on-air
I would hope so. And I just hope it leads to more. I called Michael and congratulated him, and obviously I’m very close with Steve. I hope it leads to more and more opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds – not just African-Americans, but Latinos and Asians. I hope that these new hires open up more and more opportunities so that TV looks more like America.
What motivates him
My mother. She and my stepfather moved from New York at a young age to build a more safe life for me in North Carolina. And I just watched them grow and work – they had five jobs – and just their drive and their hustle is what fuels me to this day. I come from humble starts. I went to an historically Black college where we’re always told that there’s limitation. And so I’m happy to represent for Black colleges. I’m happy to represent for my fraternity. We work hard, man. And we don’t stop, man, we don’t let up. As soon as I get in one door, I’m simultaneously working to be the best person in that door, open up doors for other people to walk in and opening up the next door for myself to walk through.

Did Terrence Put Her On? Rocsi’s Doing A Stint On ET
Rocsi is following awfully close behind her former co-host Terrence J’s footsteps — awfully close.
A couple of months ago we found out Terrence was taking his talent from “106 & Park” to Entertainment Tonight and now it appears Rocsi is doing the same thing, even if only for one night. Sorry Luther was on my mind. But the deal is Rocsi got some sort of “special assignment” that she’ll be sitting down with Nancy Odell to discuss this evening, according to her tweet:
There’s no telling whether this will turn into a permanent gig for her but before Terrence joined ET full-time, he did a number of small stints for the network too. Ol’ girl might be on the come-up. Would you watch Rocsi on ET on a regular?
A Study In Stardom: 14 Celebrities Who Parlayed Their TV/Radio Hosting Gigs To Fame
You may have caught Rickey Smiley’s latest entertainment venture, The Rickey Smiley Show, on TVOne, or heard about Terrence J leaving his mainstay, BET’s 106 & Park to pursue other hosting and acting gigs. These celebrities are now coming from behind the mic of their hosting jobs and onto the big screen of television and movies.
Before they were known for the Fast & Furious movie franchise, their upcoming fashion or make-up line or their OWN television network, these 15 celebrities paved their way to stardom as television and radio hosts.

Rickey Smiley
As the star of his own syndicated morning radio show, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Rickey Smiley has more to smile about. He is now coming from behind the mic and onto the television screen with the premiere of his TVOne sitcom, The Rickey Smiley Show.

It used to be folks in the African-American community would get excited just to see a black face on TV. While things have improved slightly, there still remains a dearth of positive black men on television. But now the airwaves have not one, but three African-American men on high-profile shows. Ex-106th & Park BET host Terrence J (Jenkins) has replaced Ryan Seacrest as co-host of E! News. Former NFL player Michael Strahan was selected as co-host of the popular syndicated morning show Live!, replacing Regis Philbin and sitting alongside Kelly Ripa. Lastly, there’s The Steve Harvey Show.
African Americans are the largest minority segment of the U.S. television-viewing population. So will these additions lure more black viewers to their respective networks?
Media critic Paul Porter, co-founder of Industry Ears, a nonprofit, non-partisan and independent organization focused on the impact media has on children and communities of color, isn’t optimistic.
“Black men as TV hosts is a strong positive,” he said. “Unfortunately many of these positive images don’t translate to the younger demographics where black male images consistently take a visual beating. Harvey’s, Terrence J’s and Strahan’s new positions are admirable. But unfortunately black America is tuned in for Love & Hip Hop.
“Since Harvey is the sole star it will take time to see if he can survive the test of time,” Porter added. “Strahan has been lucky enough to join a proven ratings winner. Terrence J on E! will be no ratings boost but a great career move for a young man who has talent,” said Porter.
In all likelihood, Harvey was hired because he already has a following, reaching millions of listeners to his radio program. But African Americans have strides to make. “There has only been one ‘Oprah,’” said Porter. “Blacks and daytime television are still a test market.”
Emmy- and NAACP Image Award-winning producer P. Frank Williams, who has produced shows for BET, TV One and other networks, predicts a rating increase. “I think Steve Harvey’s controversial and irreverent tone will be a ratings winner for NBC,” he said. “Same goes for Michael Strahan with Kelly Ripa. Strahan is charismatic and likable for people of all walks and races. Terrence Jenkins still has some proving to do since he has mainly honed his skills at BET Networks. Still, he has always appeared classy and smart. Plus, that nice job he did in Think Like a Man sure did boost his stock,” he speculated.
Usually a ratings jump is followed by increased advertising for networks and shows. Williams isn’t sure whether these new hosts will drive ad dollars, but money will ultimately do the talking. “Hopefully advertisers will see the light and realize how smart and attractive black men on TV means more money,” he said. “But we still live in a sometimes racially polarizing society where race matters more than talent to advertisers and, more importantly, to a lot of viewers in middle America,” says Williams.
Beyond ratings, Williams feels the additions will have a positive effect on the image of black men. “Anytime positive and smart black men represent on TV and film it’s a great thing for our little black boys and girls. We have plenty of chest pumping images of brothers grinding up against scantily clad women, so it’s refreshing and offers crucial balance. And for society in general, Steve Harvey, Michael Strahan and Terrence Jenkins are shining in more mainstream TV slots than we usually see,” he notes.

Round 2: Selita Ebanks Sued Over Breaking Model’s Nose In Fight
Don’t we keep saying you can’t just walk around smacking/punching/slapping people without consequence? Selita Ebanks is just now learning that delayed lesson after Telemundo model Liza Irizarry, 34, filed a lawsuit against the Victoria’s Secret model for breaking her nose during a Miami fight last year.
If you remember in November, Selita reportedly flipped out on Liza for speaking to Terrence J when they were out at Dream nightclub. Liza supposedly just said “hello” to Terrence and gave him a kiss on the cheek but that kiss earned her a broken nose when Selita, who was standing behind Terrence, supposedly yelled out “Don’t be kissing on my man!” and instantly swung her fist at Liza’s face. The blow broke Liza’s nose and the following Monday she told the Daily News:
“I was in so much pain. My pillow was covered in blood.”
Now Liza wants some compensation for that pain and suffering. NY Daily News is reporting that a suit will be filed for assault and battery in Hudson County Superior Court, near Selita’s New Jersey home, seeking cash for pain, suffering, and medical bills. Liza filed a police report immediately following the incident last fall but Selita was never arrested or charged with anything, now she and her lawyer, Edward Steinberg, want to make her pay. He told the Daily News:
“We hope that with an action like this, Miss Ebanks will no longer attack or assault anyone. We think this is a very simple case of assault and battery by a woman, who maybe used her status and stature to feel like she could get away with something.”
I wonder if she can smile her way out of this. What do you think?

Get Your Notepad Out: Terrence J Explains What Makes a Man Fall In Love
Throughout most of his ride as a host on 106 & Park, Terrence J was passed on for his cornball persona, but ever since he got his grown man on in Think Like a Man, a lot of people have been checking for him as a bit of a sex symbol—hence the slew of questions lately about how he feels about women. It also doesn’t hurt that he has a gorgeous model girlfriend by the name of Selita Ebanks.
Anyway, in an interview with Essence the magazine asked the budding actor just what it is that makes a man fall in love and he had this to say:
“I always just say it’s those intangible things,” says J. “Whenever you say the cliché things… things like, I’m looking for someone who’s intelligent or beautiful. There are always people who are intelligent and there are always people who are beautiful. It really comes down to those intangible things. I fall in love with mismatched socks, or leaving hair in the sink. It’s really the intangible things that make you you.”
According to Essence, that’s just a preview of the knowledge he’ll be dropping at a panel during the Essence Music Festival on what men want, alongside D.B. Woodside and Terrell Tillford of Single Ladies and NFL player Devin Thomas. Pardon me while I go purchase my ticket.
Terrence isn’t just interested in helping the ladies though. He’s also partnered with Crown Royal Black on a new program aimed at promoting responsible drinking among party goers. The two parties will be handing out free pre-paid Safe Rides cards to legal drinking-age consumers at upcoming The Crown Life events.
“What we want to do is make sure that people have a great time at the party and also on the way home,” he said. “We want to make sure we get you to your destination safely. That’s why we started the Safe Rides program. We take it for granted, but at the end of the night, those cards will save lives. When you see me and you see Crown, we’re gonna have ‘em.”
He’s definitely turning into a young man to watch. And ladies, don’t go leaving your hair in the sink thinking that’s going to make a man fall in love with you.

On His Ps and Qs: Terrence J Is On E!
We didn’t think it would be long before Terrence J got a new gig but homie didn’t waste any time. Last night, Terrence appeared alongside Guiliana Rancic as a guest co-host on E! news and it’s possible that stint could lead to a full-time job.
Thursday night’s appearance was most likely a test run to see how the audience would respond to Mr. Jenkins, whose run as the co-host of “106 & Park” alongside Rocsi Diaz is coming to a close after seven years. Word is Terrence wants to focus on his acting career but landing another full-time position with a network like E! isn’t a bad look either. If he becomes a permanent fixture on the celebrity news spot, he’ll be following right in the footsteps of A.J. Calloway who found a new home on EXTRA TV when he was given the boot from 106 with Free back in the day.
More power to Terrence for making big moves as Rocsi gets her hustle on in other ways. Ahem.
