While we might not have had the chance to see all of the talent LeToya Luckett had to offer back when she was a Child of Destiny (Mathew put most of the focus on you know who), once she went her own way, we were able to see that not only could Luckett “saaaang,” but she could act pretty well too. She had a recurring role on the HBO series Treme, was a regular on the first season of the BET show Second Generation Wayans, and she starred alongside singer Tank in a pretty corny but entertaining film called Preacher’s Kid. All this experience has now led the singer/actress to an offer for a role on the VH1 series Single Ladies (YES it’s coming back soon…for real this time).

According to Shadow and Act, the show is coming back in the summer, and Luckett will be playing a harda** businesswoman named Felicia Price. Her character will be a cold senior partner of a huge music management company.

Also being added to the lineup is cutie Damien Wayans, who will go toe-to-toe with April, the lone white girlfriend out of the “Single Ladies”: “Wayans will play David Berenger, April’s (Charity Shea’s) main foil at Price Management – a masterful sycophant, and a slick manager on the Atlanta music scene.”

Despite the so-so writing and acting of this Queen Latifah-produced show, Single Ladies has managed to secure a pretty big following for a scripted series on VH1. According to Shadow and Act, during season two there was a 10 percent increase in viewership, bringing in around 3.2 million viewers per episode. Question is, with these new additions, but also with the loss of showrunner Stacy A. Littlejohn, will you tune in for another season? We’ll have to wait and see what the summer brings!

The Tease Is Over! Bey’s New Pepsi Ad Is Here

After dropping the shortest teaser ever in life yesterday, Beyonce finally ended our 6-second misery with the release of her newest Pepsi ad, and more importantly her new track, “Grown Woman,” this morning.

Fittingly, the theme for the very grown woman ad was “embracing your past” and it featured images of throwback Bey in her “Bootylicious,” “Crazy in Love,” and “Single Ladies” days. Bey confronts her old selves in the mirror, essentially challenging them to a dance off, which from our view, seems to show she’s still got it. Not sure that was ever in question, but hey, you know entertainers like to make sure that isn’t a shadow of a doubt that they’ve “been on”

But without further adieu, here’s your first look at the Beyonce Pepsi ad that will probably be playing in heavy rotation every commercial break from now until infinity. What do you think?

(Oh and for the stans, the full version of “Grown Woman” drops Monday, April 8.)

All the single ladies on Valentine’s Day, Shonda Rhimes says chill, it’s not that bad.

A fan made the mistake and opened a can of whoop a** when she asked if the “Scandal” creator has any advice for single women moping on the commercial love day.

“Here is what I say to all the ladies who are alone on Valentines Day: please do not ever use these words ‘ladies who are alone on Valentine’s Day’ together in a sentence ever again. Ever. Again,” Shonda started.

From Puny To Pin-up: 9 Child Stars Who’ve Grown Up To Be Gorgeous Over The Years

Child Stars Grown Up

The future of a kid star or teen actor is an unsure one. We learned this fact from the entire cast of Different Strokes… and, actually the stars of MOST eighties sitcoms, including Jaimee Foxworth, who played the youngest daughter, Judy, on Family Matters for the first few seasons before her character was suddenly dissolved and wound up doing adult films. So, for a star to not only survive the kid star to adult role transition–continuing to have a thriving career, but to also transition into a stunningly attractive adult, that is an amazing feat. Actresses and actors such as Hilary Duff, Dakota Fanning and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are looking better than ever, so let’s check out who’s looking better with time in our community.

LOL! News Anchor Caught Busting A Move During Commercial Break ‘Cuz He Liked It And Put A Ring On It

I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of news anchors getting caught doing all sorts of crazy things on camera during commercial breaks. We’ve seen everything from producers getting cussed out — shout out to Sue Simmons — to people busting out the moves like Jagger and California anchor Tia Ewing is definitely apart of the latter.

While working a late night, or more like early morning, shift at Fox 40, Tia took advantage of a commercial break to get her dance on. What was her song of choice? Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” of course. When Tia thought no one was looking, like all of Sacramento, she flashed her ring finger back and forth with a tablet in the other hand letting everyone in the studio know, “if you like it then you should’ve put a ring on it.” Unbeknownst to her, though, all of Sacramento was in fact watching because the cameras were still rolling.

Tia didn’t mind though. When the segment came back on air, she told her co-workers:

“I gotta get it where I can get it. I just didn’t know the camera was rolling.”

We’re not mad at you girl! Check out the video of Tia getting it in.

They Survived Without Stacey: VH1′s “Single Ladies” Is Coming Back For A Third Season

Get ready for another season of attractive men, bad story lines and even worse acting because the surprisingly popular VH1 show “Single Ladies” was just renewed for a third season.

VH1 blog announced today that show averaged 3.2 million viewers per night so “there’s no way” they weren’t bringing it back for more.

According to the press release, the show starring LisaRaye McCoy (Keisha), Denise Vasi (Raquel) and Charity Shea (April) as three best friends navigating the dating world in Atlanta continues to be basic cable’s #1 ad-supported regularly scheduled scripted show among women 18-49 over the course of the summer. Of course that could easily be explained by the fact that besides the Olympics, there is literally nothing else on television. However, Single Ladies has real fans. Including, the top people at VH1.

Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production praised the show saying:

“Our viewers’ love affair with ‘Single Ladies’ got even bigger this year, growing significantly from its successful first season and dominating its timeslot on basic cable. We’re extremely happy that we’ll be able to give the audience another great season of the series and its honest, current take on love, dating and female friendship.”

Single Ladies strategically comes on directly after the inexplicably popular reality show “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta”. For VH1, Monday nights are all about shoddy relationships and overall fantastical lives that are presented as the norm and viewers are loving it.

Unlike the first season, this season of Single Ladies left the drama to the script so all of the main characters are coming back next season. (Sorry Stacey Dash/rest in television peace Val.) So if you’re rooting for Reggie & April or hoping Raquel gets back with Antonio or wondering if Keshia will get back with Malcolm, you have a few months to speculate. Season three will premiere sometime in 2013.

Are you excited to hear the show is coming back?

You know, although we’ve “progressed” as a society, there’s always one thing we (the collective so no need to say “not me”) seem to question: when a woman isn’t married or in a very serious relationship by a certain age.  When you’re in the spotlight, people tend to focus on you a little more because…well, you’re relatively famous.  Sometimes, like many other women in the world, work and life take precedence over making sure you have a man (or woman, if that’s your preference) to come home to at night.

The ladies on this list are all 35 and over and as best as we can tell, still single. But don’t cry for them Argentina because they are fabulous and you definitely don’t have to have a man to stay fly!  Check it out!

He Had Us Fooled: Travis Winfrey Talks Playing The Gay BFF But Loving Real-Life Single Ladies

July 12th, 2012 - By Alissa Henry

Travis Winfrey isn’t gay. He just pretends to be on TV.

He’s “Omar” the gay bff and coworker on VH1′s “Single Ladies”. The actor (and his incredible abs) are featured in Kontrol Magazine‘s “Hot Body Issue” this month.

When asked if he prefers a woman with tan lines or no tan lines, the self-professed t-shirt and jeans guy answered, “I love all women”.

So why would a heterosexual male play a homosexual one on TV?

He says he was auditioning for a straight character when he was offered the opportunity to play Omar and saw it as opportunity to prove himself as a diverse, well-rounded talent.

“It was an opportunity for me to play a gay character who is not playing a gay character…I don’t know if people assume I am gay but people know Omar is gay. They assume that I am not… it’s something I would have never done.

The magazine says Travis wanted to do his best at fitting the role of Omar but was reluctant to deliver the neck-rolling, finger-snapping gay male. He wanted to do his best at what he loves and welcomed the challenge to go against the grain. The Georgia native says, “We all come built with our own stereotypes and should take things lightheartedly.”

In the past he has said of Omar, ”I wanted to make a very realistic, down-to-earth, wholesome character who just so happens to be gay.”

It’s not exactly rare for a straight man to play a gay one on TV or in movies. Some call it “Gay for Pay” and many actors have even gone on to win awards for their performances. Eric McCormack is probably the most famous straight actor to play a gay character on a TV show. He was “Will” on Will and Grace.

There aren’t too many straight male black actors known to play homosexual characters though. In 1993, Will Smith played a gay con artist in Six Degrees of Separation, but reportedly refused to kiss a man at that point in his career. AfterElton.com says he was advised against it by Denzel Washington and so the directors had to use mirrors and trick camera angles to make it appear as if Smith’s character locks lips with another man. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also played a a gay, country western-singing bodyguard in “Be Cool”

What do you think of Travis? Did you know he was straight?
