Ahmad ‘Real’ Givens Is Prepared To Fight, Former Reality Star Began Chemotherapy This Week
Last week we regretfully reported that former VH1 reality star, Ahmad “Real” Givens has been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. After visiting doctors four times for what he believed to be the flu, the 33-year-old learned that cancer was actually the culprit in his declining health. The stallionaire refuses to give up without a fight though. According to tweets sent out by Real’s rap group, he began chemotherapy treatment last night and is doing better than doctors expected.
A representative on behalf of Givens revealed to TMZ that doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where Givens was originally hospitalized, advised that the former reality star begin oral chemotherapy immediately. As we reported earlier, the Givens family is raising money to cover Ahmad’s rising medical expenses. The representative says that his insurance company is only covering 40% of the bill. According to Giveforward.com, to date, $14,778 has been raised. Rap group, The Stallionaires, which Real is a part of with two of his brothers, continues to thank everyone for their support.
The Givens family’s spokesperson says Real saddened by the news of his condition, but is prepared to fight and is committed to staying strong for his family.
Get well soon, Real!
Ahmad ‘Real’ Givens of VH1′s ‘Real Chance of Love’ In the Fight of His Life After Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis
Unfortunately, we have some very sad news to report on this afternoon. We’ve just learned that Ahmad “Real” Givens, mostly known for his role on VH1 reality show I Love New York, which eventually resulted in spin-off show, Real Chance of Love, which he starred in alongside his brother Chance, has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.
A representative for Real told TMZ that the 33-year-old former reality star first began feeling ill back in January, which he thought was a simple case of the flu. After going back and forth to the hospital four times, doctors told him there was something wrong with his liver. Last week he learned that colon cancer is actually what has been causing him to feel under the weather. Real will remain hospitalized until doctors determine what sort of treatment they should administer. A rep says doctors will more than likely reach a decision today.
Ray J confirmed the news a few days ago via his Twitter page while requesting prayers for his friend.
Tiffany Pollard aka New York also sent her well wishes.
Since Real Chance of Love ended, Ahmad has continued rapping with his brothers in hip hop group, The Stallionaires. He also launched a hair care line called Real Silk, which includes a variety of hair care products and equipment.
In addition to prayers, Ahmad’s family is asking for monetary donations to assist with his medical bills. Donations can be made payable to account “Cancer Funds for Real,” Chase bank acct# 407662563.
Our prayers go out to the Givens family.
Where Are They Now? The Women of “Real Chance of Love”
Hello Readers, you know we like to update you on some of the participants of past reality shows, and today is no different. We’ve taken you through the gambit of the women of all three seasons of “Flavor of Love,” the men from the two seasons of “I Love New York,” the femmes of both seasons of “For the Love of Ray J,” and now we’re back with the women who bid for the attention of Real and Chance.
“Real Chance of Love” had its viewers, making it the highest rated show on VH1 both of the seasons that it aired, and with viewers came its criticizers. People initially fell in love with the Givens brothers because they seemed so sweet and genuine on “I Love New York;” however, on their own shows they came off as immature, misogynistic, and disrespectful to some of the girls, “Real Chance of Love” turned into the show that people loved to hate, and continued to gain more viewers each episode.
So, who were these girls that vied for the attention of the brothers who loved to wear empty holsters? Where are they now, and really, can you blame them for wanting to get some of this?:
